TOUR SUMMARY

Join the Green & Gold Army for this once in a generation opportunity to support the Socceroos at the 47th edition of the Copa America. On this tour we will take in the entire tournament and visit the absolute best of Argentina & Colombia.

For the Argentinian leg (20 nights), we begin in the Paris of the south, Buenos Aires, before heading to Cordoba, then a choice of one of the world’s finest wine cities Mendoza or skiing in San Carlos de Bariloche. We stop in again at Buenos Aires before heading to the spectacular wonder of the natural world Iguazu Falls, then to Uruguay’s World Heritage Village Colonia del Sacremento.

We start the Colombian leg (12 nights) in breathtaking Bogota, before heading to Cali for a QUARTER Final. Then onto the city of eternal spring, Medellin for the SEMI Final before completing the tour in hard working port town of Barranquilla, home to the FINAL. We can’t wait.

This tour is managed by the most experienced football tour operator in Australia, endorsed by Football Federation Australia and is Socceroos focused, we know that’s why you’re here in the first place and we will visit training to get up and close with the team.

We also design our tours so you can experience and uncover the sights and culture of Argentina & Colombia. MACRO ITINERARY

Day 1: 

Welcome to Buenos Aires, the capital and largest city of Argentina. Buenos Aires combines faded European grandeur with Latin passion. Sexy and alive, this beautiful city gets under your skin. Today is arrival day, an opportunity to settle into the tour hotel, meet the GGArmy staff team and fellow tour participants. A casual evening walk and dinner will be organised for those wishing to blow out the jetlag cobwebs.
Overnight: Buenos Aires.

Day 2: 

In the morning attend the official tour briefing before enjoying an afternoon walking city tour (3 hours) which is a great way to meet fellow guests and enjoy exploring the many wonders of inner city Buenos Aires. In the evening there will be a transfer service to Estadio Monumental for those guests holding tickets to the opening match Argentina v Chile.

Overnight: Buenos Aires.

Day 3: 

Today we are on the move to Cordoba by early morning air transfer. Cordoba is the second largest city in Argentina, is a fascinating mix of old and new. Where else will you find DJs spinning electro-tango in crowded student bars next to 17th-century Jesuit ruins? It is also home to the Socceroos opening Copa America fixture. After settling into our hotel the group transfers to our pre-match event (entertainment, food and alcohol) and then onto the match Australia v Uruguay at Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes.

Overnight: Cordoba.

Day 4: 

After a morning rest enjoy an afternoon Cordoba Colonial walking tour (3 hours) taking in the Jesuit Block and Estamcias, missions established by Spanish Jesuits, which is one of the best preserved architectural sites in Argentina.

Day 5: 

Today Optional Tour Excursions (taking in the fabulous Cordoba province famous for landscapes to die for) will be operated allowing tour participants to choose what they would like to participate in or you can stay back in Cordoba and enjoy exploring the metropolis at you own pace in your own time.

Day 6: 

Today we air transfer from Cordoba to Buenos Aires and settle into our tour hotel and enjoy a free evening to explore or have that mouth-watering Argentinian steak dinner that is no doubt high on the priority list whilst on tour.

Day 7: 

After a free morning we enjoy a fantastic pre-match meal, enjoying the build up at our pre-match event (entertainment, food & alcohol) prior to transferring to Estadio Ciudad de la Plata for Paraguay v Australia.
Overnight: Buenos Aires.

Day 8-10: 

Tour participants get to choose one of 3 excursion options for these days/nights. If you choose to travel to Mendoza or San Carlos de Bariloche the air service associated with this program is an additional fee. Various day tour offerings for each location will be included in the GGArmy day tour portal which will be released on 31st March.

Option 1: Buenos Aires

Take the opportunity to spend three days and nights in Argentina’s capital and enjoy steak, wine, ice cream, art, architecture, nightlife and the tango! This might a great time to immerse yourself in the Queen of the Plate, Paris of the south and also a historic European outpost with a contemporary Latin American heartbeat. Enjoy French and Italianate buildings, graceful plazas and cultural life the envy of most Old World cities.

You can also catch the match Argentina v Paraguay at Estadio Monumental.

Option 2: Mendoza

Mendoza is synonymous with wine, and this is the place to base yourself if you’re up for touring the vineyards, taking a few dozen bottles home or just looking for a good vintage to accompany the evening’s pizza. The city’s wide range of tour operators also makes it a great place to organize rafting, skiing and other adventures in the nearby Andes.

Option 3: San Carlos de Bariloche

Winter wonderland Bariloche is located in the northern end of Patagonia. The soaring peaks of Cerros Catedral, López, Nireco and Shaihuenque ring the town, giving picture-postcard views in every direction. These mountains aren’t just for gazing, though – excellent snow coverage makes this a winter wonderland, and a magnet for skiers and snowboarders.

Day 11: 

Tour guests from Mendoza and Bariloche return by air transfer to Buenos Aires.

Day 12: 

After a free morning we enjoy a fantastic pre-match meal, enjoying the build up at our pre-match event (entertainment, food & alcohol) prior to transferring to Estadio Ciudad de la Plata for Australia v Bolivia.

Day 13: 

Today the entire group leaves Buenos Aires for two nights in the Amazon forest to explore and observe Iguazu Falls. A morning air transfer will see us settled into our hotel by mid-afternoon. The afternoon will be spent exploring the sub-tropical Iguazu rainforest home to hundreds of species of flora and fauna.

Day 14: 

Today we immerse ourselves  in one of the planet’s most awe-inspiring sights, the Iguazú Falls. A visit is a jaw-dropping, visceral experience, and the power and noise of the cascades, a chain of hundreds of waterfalls nearly 3km in extension, will live forever in the memory.

Day 15: 

Today the group air transfers back to Buenos Aires.

Day 16: 

After a free morning we enjoy a fantastic pre-match meal, enjoying the build up at our pre-match event (entertainment, food & alcohol) prior to transferring to Estadio Monumental for Australia v Argentina.
Overnight: Buenos Aires.

Day 17: 

Today we take the short ferry ride to Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay which is our home for the next two nights. Colonia is an irresistibly picturesque town enshrined as a Unesco World Heritage site. Its Barrio Histórico, an irregular colonial-era nucleus of narrow cobbled streets, occupies a small peninsula jutting into the river. Pretty rows of sycamores on the riverfront is a venue for spectacular sunsets (it’s a Uruguayan custom to applaud the setting sun).

Day 18: 

Explore the historic town of Colonia and stroll along the cobblestone roads exploring the historic Unesco World Heritage site in your own time.

Day 19: 

Today we travel to Cordoba by ferry and air transfer.

Day 20: 

After a morning of free time the group transfers to our pre-match event (entertainment, food and alcohol) and then onto the match Chile v Australia at Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes.

Overnight: Cordoba.

Day 21: 

Welcome to Bogota. We will be transferring by air from Cordoba. Bogotá is Colombia’s beating heart, an engaging and vibrant capital cradled by chilly Andean peaks and steeped in sophisticated urban cool. After settling into the hotel meet the GGArmy staff team before heading out for a pre-dinner welcome drink and tour briefing.

Note: In the event the Socceroos qualify for the Knockout Stage of the event this itinerary will be adjusted to incorporate seeing the Socceroos in their Quarter Final and beyond.

Day 22: 

Today Optional Tour Excursions will be operated allowing tour participants to choose what they would like to participate in or you can stay back in Bogota and enjoy exploring the metropolis at you own pace in your own time.

Day 23: 

Today the group air transfers to Cali. Cali has a real zest for life that draws you in and stays with you long after you leave town. The city’s main attraction is its beguiling, electrifying atmosphere. You will find great nightlife, good restaurants and plenty to do, especially in the evening, when a cool mountain breeze dissipates the heat of the day. Settle into the tour hotel and enjoy an evening out.

Day 24: 

After a morning of free time the group transfers to our pre-match event (entertainment, food and alcohol) and then onto the Quarter Final match at Estadio Olimpico Pascual Guerrero.

Day 25: 

Today Optional Tour Excursions will be operated allowing tour participants to choose what they would like to participate in or you can stay back in Cali and enjoy exploring the metropolis at you own pace in your own time.

Day 26: 

Today the group air transfers to Medellin. Situated in a narrow valley, Medellín skyline reaches for the heavens, setting high-rise apartments and office buildings against a backdrop of jagged peaks in every direction. Its pleasant climate gives it its nickname, the City of Eternal Spring. On weekends Medellín lets its hair down, its many discos attracting the beautiful people. Settle into the tour hotel and enjoy an evening out.

Day 28: 

After a morning of free time the group transfers to our pre-match event (entertainment, food and alcohol) and then onto the Semi Final match at Estadio Atanasio Girardot.

Day 29: 

Today the group air transfers to Barranquilla. Colombia’s fourth-largest city, the hardworking port town of Barranquilla is located on the delta of the massive Río Magdalena and laid out in a tangled ribbon along mangroves and the Caribbean Sea, sweltering and hustling in the sun. It is also the birthplace of Colombian pop goddess Shakira. Settle into the tour hotel and enjoy an evening out.

Today Optional Tour Excursions will be operated allowing tour participants to choose what they would like to participate in or you can stay back in Barranquilla and enjoy the sun and the hotel pool bar.

Our tour packages are structured to meet operational and guest requirements. This means that there are ‘optional’ items relevant to the tour that are not included in the packages listed above and will be an additional cost if you choose to add them. We have listed them below so you can understand them prior to booking on our tour.

Group International Flights
International Flights are not included in the package price and are an additional cost. Please contact our Customer Service Team at customerservice@ggarmy.com  for flight options to link-up with our Combo Tour.

Note: the international flight between Buenos Aires and Bogota is an additional cost and will be charged at cost once group arrangements are confirmed.

Match Tickets

  • Category C Tickets to 5 x Australian matches are included in the package price. Upgrades to Ticket Category can be purchased at a later date to be advised

  • Tickets to all non-Australian matches are an additional purchase. As Match Ticket information for non-Australian matches is not available, we will confirm costs when details are confirmed.

Cultural & Sightseeing Day Tours
Just like all our other major tournament tours, on days that Australia is not playing a carefully selected suite of guided cultural/historical sightseeing day tours will be offered to all tour participants/guests as an optional additional purchase. Our optional sightseeing day tours are a great way to enjoy our destination’s tourism highlights with other tour participants, building on friendships.

Our Day Tours portal will be launched on the 31st March 2021 and will detail the optional tour excursions identified in the Macro Tour Itinerary above.

Optional Group Stage Domestic Transport

As you will see in the above itinerary, you have the option from Day 8-10 to choose between three different experiences: Buenos Aires, Mendoza and Patagonia. If you choose Mendoza or Patagonia, then return flights to either Mendoza or Bariloche are additionally required and will be levied at the same time.
