Kyra Cooney-Cross grabbed an assist as Arsenal qualified for the English Women’s FA Cup quarter-finals with a 2-0 victory over London City Lionesses on Sunday.

Cooney-Cross laid off the pass for Laia Codina’s 32nd minute strike that broke the deadlock and later earned Player of the Match honours.

The Matildas midfielder provided an accurate ball over towards the far post for Codina to loop it back across goal with a header.

She also had a long-range effort saved early in the second half.

Cooney-Cross started and played 88 minutes, while Caitlin Foord was back from injury and also started, getting through 70 minutes.

Foord almost set up the opener earlier in the game when she crossed for an unmarked Alessia Russo but her shot was deflected out for a corner.

Steph Catley was an unused sub for the Gunners.

Fowler had an effort blocked in the lead-up to Leila Ouahabi’s opening goal.
