Emily van Egmond provided two assists as San Diego Wave lost 4-3 to Washington Spirit in USA’s National Women’s Soccer League on Saturday.
Van Egmond got the assists for Jaedyn Shaw’s opening goal in the seventh minute, along with Alex Morgan’s 82nd minute equalizer, before Spirit netted a 100th minute penalty winner.
The Matildas midfielder curled in an inch-perfect for Shaw to volley home at the back post for 1-0. Van Egmond whipped in a corner for Morgan to head home for 3-3.
Alex Chidiac and Chelsie Dawber were both unused subs for their clubs, Chicago Red Stars and Racing Louisville respectively.
Remy Siemsen scored her first-ever goal for AIK in the Swedish Damallsvenskan but it was a consolation in a 6-2 home loss to Kristianstad on Saturday.
Siemsen, who put in a full shift, made it 5-2 in the 88th minute. The goal was Siemsen’s first for AIK in her 14th appearance for the club.
Elise Kellond-Knight started and played 63 minutes as Hammarby won 2-0 over Teagan Micah‘s Rosengard. Micah put in a full shift for Rosengard.
Kyra Cooney-Cross came on for Kellond-Knight in the 63rd minute, while Courtney Nevin was an unused sub.
Elsewhere, Emma Checker played a full game as Umea lost 5-0 at Hacken.
Lydia Williams wasn’t in the Paris Saint-Germain matchday squad that opened the new French Feminine Division 1 season with a 2-0 home win over Soyaux on Friday.
Tameka Yallop wasn’t in the SK Brann squad either, following international duty, as they won 2-1 at Valerenga in the championship round of the Norwegian Toppserien on Sunday.
Angela Beard, Winonah Heatley and Matilda McNamara all played full games for their respective clubs in the Danish Kvindeliga.
The English Women’s Super League, involving numerous Matildas, was due to commence this weekend but due to the Queen’s passing all matches were postponed.
