Alex Grant headed in his second goal this month to help second-placed Pohang Steelers come from behind to claim a 4-2 win over Jeju United in South Korea’s K League 1 on Sunday.

Grant scored with a bouncing header low into the bottom corner from Wanderson’s 73rd minute free-kick to make it 2-2.

The ex-Perth Glory defender has netted four goals from 20 games this season and been a key part of Pohang’s tight backline this season, that has conceded 26 goals in 23 games.

Elsewhere in K1, Aaron Calver played a full game for Gwangju FC in a 1-1 home draw with Daegu on Saturday.

Patrick Flottmann was an 88th minute substitute for Seongnam in a 3-2 win at Busan in K League 2.

Mitch Duke‘s Machida Zelvia weren’t in action over the weekend, having triumphed 4-1 over Kevin Muscat’s top tier outfit Yokohama F. Marinos 4-1 in the Emperor’s Cup in midweek.

Duke was on the scoresheet in Machida’s midweek win, before being replaced on the hour as they progressed to the last 16.

Thomas Deng played a full game as 10-man Albirex Niigata triumphed 1-0 at Consadole Sapporo in the Japanese J1 League on Saturday, while Mitch Langerak put in a full shift as Nagoya Grampus lost 2-1 at Kyoto Sanga.

Stefan Mauk was a 76th minute substitute as Fagiano Okayama drew 2-2 with V-Varen Nagazaki in J2 on Sunday.

Milos Degenek was absent for Columbus Crew for their 3-2 loss at Portland Timbers amid speculation linking him with a return to Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade in the MLS.

Alex Gersbach was out due to injury while Brad Smith was an unused substitute as Colorado Rapids drew 0-0 with Houston Dynamo.

Ryan Strain put in a full shift for St Mirren in their 1-0 loss to Montrose in the Scottish League Cup but Keanu Baccus was absent amid rumours of a move to Bolton or Hibernian.

Aziz Behich and Mark Birighitti were both not in the Dundee United squad which lost 1-0 at Spartans, while Ryan McGowan played a full game as St Johnstone were beaten 1-0 at Stenhousemuir.

Anthony Kalik was an unused substitute for Hajduk Split as they lost 1-0 to Dinamo Zagreb in the Croatian Super Cup final on Sunday. Kalik hasn’t played competitively since January due to injury.

Nick D’Agostino and Patrick Yazbek were both 87th minute substitutes while Gianni Stensness (knee) was out as Viking won 1-0 at Stabaek in the Norwegian Eliteserien.
