Thailand Tour Summary

The Green & Gold Army is heading back to Thailand – one of our all-time favourite destinations – to support the Socceroos in the final stage of qualifiers for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Here’s your invite to join the fun!

Thailand Away Itinerary

Day 1: Saturday 12 November 2016

Arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport and transfer to the five-star Landmark Hotel. Green & Gold Army tour hosts will be waiting to greet you.

Evening – Saturday night in Bangkok. Our coaches will transfer us to the venue for our welcome party, which is inclusive of food and alcoholic beverages. This is a great opportunity to meet and get to know your fellow Socceroos supporters.

Following the function our coaches will return to the Holiday Inn. From there the famous Bangkok nightlife is yours to enjoy. Have fun!

Day 2: Sunday 13 November 2016

Day- at leisure: Explore Bangkok your way, or just chill by the pool.

Evening- – After an afternoon at leisure, at approximately 17:30 we will depart in a convoy of Tuk Tuks (famous local transportation) under police escort (so the infamous Bangkok traffic is cleared for us!) for a city orientation through the spiritual and historical heart of Bangkok, filled with numerous temples and shrines.

Our tour will also take in the famous Grand Palace, the Emerald Budha and Rajamnern Avenue. This is a not to be missed and unique way to uncover the city, even for those who have visited Bangkok previously.

Following the city tour, explore Bangkok’s plentiful restaurants and nightlife.

Day 3: Monday 14 November 2016

Day- Optional Day Tours:

If you’d like to uncover sights and more culture, today is the perfect day to experience a day tour. The following options are available:

  • Damnern Saduak Floating Market and Thai Village Culture (full day)

Situated 100 kms west of Bangkok is the famous floating market, where canals are filled with small boats loaded with fruit, vegetables, everyday items and souvenirs. A traditional long-tail boat takes us down the canal, affording a unique opportunity to glimpse into local life. Afterwards we attend a traditional village cultural show, which gives you an introduction into Thai life.

  • Cruise of Thonburi Canals and Grand Palace Tour (half day)

Travel by long-tail speed boat on the Chao Phraya River to see the serene family homes and temples lining the waterway that give Bangkok the apt name of “Venice of the East”. We disembark at Tha Chang Pier for a short walk through a small market to the Grand Palance compound. The beauty of the Palace grounds are matched by stately buildings and the famed Emerald Buddha.

Evening- Socceroos training session (TBC)*

*Note that the team’s training schedule will not be confirmed until nearer the fixture. The FFA have always invited the Green & Gold Army to witness a training session, but this is always subject to Ange and team management permitting the visit. Visiting a training session is a great way to witness the inner-workings of the team and there’s usually an opportunity for photos and autographs. We may need to shift some activities to different days to work in the training session.

Day 4: Tuesday 15 November 2016

Morning – At leisure. Been to the markets yet? Today might be the day to grab a bargain.

Afternoon & Evening Australia v Thailand, Rajamangala Stadium, Bangkok.
Our luxury coaches will transfer us to the venue for our pre-match party. Green & Gold Army functions are renowned for the shared camaraderie and good times. There’s a 2½ hour open bar and food included – what better way to prepare for the evenings game! At the conclusion of the function our coaches will transfer us to the stadium, and post-match back to our hotel.

Day 5 – Wednesday 16 November 2016

Morning- After breakfast check-out and we wish you a safe journey home.
