Steph Catley got an assist although Olivia Smith did most of the work for the goal as Arsenal kept in touch with the leaders with a 2-1 win over struggling Liverpool.
Catley passed to the left side to Smith who got past four players before rifling in a low shot to put the Gunners 1-0 ahead in the 16th minute.
Catley put in a full shift, while Kyra Cooney-Cross also started but was replaced in the 69th minute. Caitlin Foord was a 58th minute substitute.
Sam Kerr was a 55th minute substitute but couldn’t rescue Chelsea from a disappointing 1-0 home loss to Clare Wheeler’s Everton which ended the Blues’ record run.
Kerr had a chance, but headed wide in the 63rd minute.
Wheeler played 56 minutes for the Toffees. Ellie Carpenter put in a full shift for the Blues.
That’s the closest we’ve come in the second half as Kerr heads just wide.
