Martin Boyle scored his sixth goal of the season and third in the league but Hibernian still went down 2-1 to champions Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.

Boyle, who started and played 79 minutes, made it 2-1 from the penalty spot in the 56th minute.

He was rated 7/10 by Edinburgh Evening News, who wrote: “Big chance early on passed him by. Maintained composed to score from the penalty spot and fashioned himself into dangerous areas between the two centre-backs. Subbed.”

Jack Iredale came on in the 38th minute for Hibs following an injury to Nicky Cadden.

He was rated 5/10 by Edinburgh Evening News, who wrote: “Brought on for Cadden. Seamless transition into back three, tried to play forward and not overly troubled during his time on the pitch.”

Garang Kuol provided an assist in Sparta Prague’s 4-2 home loss to Pardubice in the Czech Chance Liga.

Kuol came on in the 75th minute with his side 3-0 down and set up Jan Kuchta’s goal to pull one back in the 90th minute.

The Socceroo produced some individual brilliance down the right flank, working a one-two before bursting past his opponent and crossing for Kuchta to nod home at the near post.

Noah Botic missed Austria Vienna’s 0-0 draw with Tirol in Austria’s Bundesliga due to a new serious ankle injury.

In training late this week, Botic sustained a syndesmosis and medial ligament injury, which will require surgery and sideline him for several months in a cruel blow which could rule him out of next year’s World Cup.

Jacob Italiano missed Grazer AK’s 3-1 win over BW Linz with a calf injury.

Marco Tilio started and played an hour in Rapid Vienna’s 3-0 defeat away to LASK on Sunday.

Paul Izzo, Mohamed Toure and Musa Toure all started in Randers’ 0-0 draw away to Silkeborg in the Danish Superliga on Sunday.

Izzo and Mohamed Toure put in full shifts with the goalkeeper keeping a clean sheet. Musa started and played 66 minutes.

Ajdin Hrustic played a full game in Heracles’ 1-1 draw away to Fortuna Sittard in the Dutch Eredivisie.

Max Balard put in a full shift in NAC Breda’s 1-0 loss away to Excelsior.

Cameron Peupion provided an assist for one of ADO Den Haag’s goals in their 3-0 win away to VVV Venlo in the Dutch Eerste Divisie. Den Haag are eight points clear at the top and in line for promotion.

Mat Ryan could do little about either of the goals in Levante’s 2-0 loss to Athletic Bilbao in Spain’s La Liga.

Alessandro Circati missed Parma’s 2-0 home loss to Udinese in Italy’s Serie A due to injury.

Jackson Irvine started and played 68 minutes while Connor Metcalfe was an 87th minute substitute as St Pauli’s struggling run continued with a 3-1 loss away to champions Bayern Munich in Germany’s Bundesliga.

Irvine wore the captain’s armband for St Pauli who actually almost managed a point, with Bayern scoring two goals in stoppage-time to win it.

Riley McGree was a 54th minute substitute for Middlesbrough who remained in second spot with a 2-1 home win over Callum Elder’s Derby County. Elder put in a full shift.

McGree was rated 7/10 by Teesside Live who wrote: “Was a really positive influence on the game as Boro pushed harder for a way back into the game.”

Adrian Segecic started and played 81 minutes in Portsmouth’s 1-0 home loss to Bristol City.

Segecic was rated only 4/10 by Portsmouth News who wrote: “Failed to reach highs seen so far this season.

“Contributed to frustration rising as he allowed Zak Vyner to run past him as he ambled in first half, but provided dangerous delivery for golden chance for Knight.”

Lewis Miller played the full game in Blackburn’s 1-1 draw at Wrexham. Lancashire Telegraph rated Miller 7/10 and wrote: “Tidy on the ball and made a few good blocks in the spells where Rovers were under a bit of pressure.”

Cam Burgess played a full game in Swansea City’s 3-2 loss to West Brom.

Elsewhere, Harry Souttar has returned to training at Leicester City as he closes in on a comeback from a long-term Achilles injury, sustained on Boxing Day last year.

Aiden O’Neill put in a full shift as Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami swept past New York City 5-1 to qualify for the MLS Cup Final.

Mitch Duke opened the scoring in Machida Zelvia’s 3-1 win over Nagoya Grampus in Japan’s J1 League to round out their campaign.

Duke, who has had a decent run of starts lately, put his side ahead in the 42nd minute

The Socceroo also laid off an assist for Hotaka Nakamura to make it 2-0 five minutes after the break.

The assist comes after setting up a goal in last week’s Emperor’s Cup 3-1 win over Vissel Kobe. Duke has netted only three goals for the 2025 Japanese season.
