Caitlin Foord provided an assist and came close to scoring as Arsenal opened the new English Women’s Super League season with a 4-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion on Friday.
Foord dragged a shot wide in the 22nd minute, while she had an angled shot saved by Brighton goalkeeper Megan Walsh too.
But the Matildas forward, playing on the left side of attack, beat a defender and got in down to the byline, cutting the ball back to Kim Little to open the scoring.
Foord played 64 minutes, before being replaced by compatriot Steph Catley.
