Caitlin Foord provided an assist and came close to scoring as Arsenal opened the new English Women’s Super League season with a 4-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion on Friday.

Foord dragged a shot wide in the 22nd minute, while she had an angled shot saved by Brighton goalkeeper Megan Walsh too.

But the Matildas forward, playing on the left side of attack, beat a defender and got in down to the byline, cutting the ball back to Kim Little to open the scoring.

Foord played 64 minutes, before being replaced by compatriot Steph Catley.

Sam Kerr had a goal disallowed for offside as Chelsea spurned numerous chances in a 2-1 loss at Liverpool on Sunday.

Kerr played a full game, winning countless headers in the final third, while she got in behind the Reds’ defence and thumped a half-volley home for 2-0 in the first half, only to be ruled out in a tight offside call.

Mary Fowler made her WSL debut as Manchester City were downed 4-3 by Amy Gielnik‘s Aston Villa on Sunday.

Fowler came on at half-time with City trailing 2-1 but her introduction didn’t help with their balance. Hayley Raso was a 57th minute substitute for City, while Alanna Kennedy was absent. Gielnik was an 80th minute substitute for Villa, who were sparked by new signing Rachel Daly.

Mackenzie Arnold kept a clean sheet as West Ham United defeated Everton 1-0, while Kyah Simon was a 61st minute substitute as Tottenham won 2-1 at Leicester City.

Jacynta Galabadaarachchi netted a double and was named Celtic’s Player of the Match as they won 6-0 over Hamilton Academical on Sunday.

🍾 Congrats to Jacynta Galabadaarachchi who was this afternoon's @taysideaviation POTM!⭐️✈️

Lydia Williams played a full game and kept a clean sheet as Paris Saint-Germain won 4-0 at Rodez in the French Feminine Division 1 on Saturday.

Remy Siemsen made it two goals in two games as AIK lost 5-1 at Orebro in the Swedish Damallsvenskan on Sunday.

Siemsen, who scored her maiden goal for the club last weekend, netted AIK’s only goal in the 70th minute, with the side trailing 3-0 at the time.

Kyra Cooney-Cross played a full game with Elise Kellond-Knight and Courtney Nevin coming on as 64th and 69th minute substitutes in Hammarby’s 3-1 loss to Kristianstad.

Teagan Micah put in a full shift as Rosengard beat Kalmar 6-2 on Saturday, while Aivi Luik played a full game as Hacken won 2-1 at Eskilstuna United.

Tameka Yallop started and played 79 minutes as SK Brann drew 1-1 with Rosenborg in the Norwegian Toppserien Championship Round. Rosenborg are ahead of Brann on goal difference.

Angela Beard and Winonah Heatley faced off, both playing full games as Fortuna Hjorring won 3-0 over Nordsjaelland in the Danish Kvindeliga.

Matilda McNamara put in a full shift as AGF lost 1-0 at Sundby.

Chloe Logarzo, who signed a loan deal with A-League club Western United last week to start in November, was back after long-term injury as an unused sub for Kansas City Current in a 1-1 draw with Portland Thorns in USA’s National Women’s Soccer League.

Emily van Egmond put in a full shift as San Diego Wave edged Angel City 1-0, Alex Chidiac was an 85th minute sub as Racing Louisville beat Orlando Pride 2-0, while Chelsie Dawber came on in the 82nd minute as Chicago Red Stars lost 1-0 at home to Houston Dash.

NEWS: @CLogarzo will be heading to Australia’s A-League Women to play with @wufcofficial on loan starting in November.
