Mary Fowler came off the bench to provide the assist for Manchester City’s winner in a 2-1 triumph away to London City Lionesses in the WSL.
Fowler entered the game in the 59th minute at 1-0 to City, with the home side equalizing through Jana Fernandez in the 72nd minute.
But two minutes later Fowler laid off the pass for Lauren Hemp to score what proved to be the winner.
Fowler jinked and weaved on the left side, connecting with Kerstin Casparij before re-gathering in space and whipping in a well-placed cross for Hemp to volley home.
Elsewhere, Ellie Carpenter was among the goals for Chelsea in a thumping 6-0 victory away to Charlton.
Carpenter netted the Blues’ third goal in the 13th minute, reacting first after Lauren James’ effort was parried away, side-footing home.
For Charlton, Leah Davidson was back from injury and played the full 90. Emily van Egmond and Grace Johnston both started, playing 46 and 79 minutes respectively.
Caitlin Foord put in a full shift as Arsenal stumbled again, drawing 1-1 with Aston Villa. Steph Catley played 71 minutes and Kyra Cooney-Cross got through 83 minutes.
Clare Wheeler played a full game with Holly McNamara absent for Everton’s 0-0 draw with Manchester United.
In the Women’s League Cup, Alana Murphy was among the goal scorers for Nottingham Forest in a 4-0 win over Burnley.
