Mary Fowler scored a classy close-range volley in her return as Manchester City eased past Leicester City 4-0 in the English Women’s Super League on Sunday.
Fowler missed the Matildas’ recent games against Brazil, citing fatigue, but bounced back after he break with a start and goal for City.
The Matildas forward put in a full shift and contributed City’s fourth goal in the 58th minute.
Fowler unleashed a sweet volley into the top corner, after Leicester only half-cleared Leila Ouahabi’s teasing ball into the box.
Alanna Kennedy got game-time, playing as a 59th minute substitute. Courtney Nevin started and played 73 minutes for the Foxes.

Elsewhere, Katrina Gorry dazzled on her return from injury with an assist and a goal in West Ham United’s come-from-behind 5-2 win over Crystal Palace.
After falling 2-0 down early, Gorry helped level the scores when she laid off for Seraina Piubel whose effort sneaked in at the near post.
The Hammers pulled clear before Gorry added a fifth goal in injury-time after the ball had flashed across goal. Gorry played the full game.

Kyra Cooney-Cross got an assist in Arsenal’s impressive 4-0 triumph over Aston Villa.
Cooney-Cross’ in-swinging free-kick in the 18th minute when nodded home by Alessia Russo.
Steph Catley and Caitlin Foord also both started, playing 75 minutes, while Cooney-Cross got through 84 minutes.

Hayley Raso and Clare Hunt both started in Tottenham’s 2-1 win over Everton.
It was Hunt’s header from a corner which was saved but fell to Beth England for Spurs’ opening goal. Raso also had an effort saved by the Everton keeper.
Raso started and played 82 minutes, while Hunt put in a full shift. Charlotte Grant went unused. Clare Wheeler put in a full shift for the Toffees.
Teagan Micah was in goal for Liverpool who were hammered 4-0 by Manchester United on the road.
In France’s Premiere Ligue on Friday, Ellie Carpenter missed Olympique Lyon’s routine 3-0 win at Reims.
