Hayley Raso made her second start for Tottenham in a week, playing 89 minutes as they got past Aston Villa 1-0 in the League Cup group stage.
Raso whipped in a right-wing cross which was pinpoint for Beth England, who somehow couldn’t convert with her volley.
The Matilda almost scored a goal of her own in the second half, doing well to retain the ball inside the box, before her left-foot shot forced a good save.
Clare Hunt and Charlotte Grant were both unused on the bench. Hunt’s benching comes after a difficult few games for her.
Teagan Micah played her part in goal in Liverpool’s emphatic 6-1 win over Newcastle.
Katrina Gorry was absent following her shoulder scare last weekend as West Ham won 4-1 at London City Lionesses.
Courtney Nevin was an unused sub for Leicester City’s penalty shootout win over Brighton after a 0-0 draw.
In midweek, Mary Fowler and Alanna Kennedy both played full games in Manchester City’s 2-1 win at Hammarby in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
Fowler has since pulled out of the Matildas upcoming squad for fixtures against Brazil and Chinese Taipei, citing “mental and physical fatigue”.
Caitlin Foord and Steph Catley both played in Arsenal’s 1-0 Champions League triumph over Juventus in midweek too.
Ellie Carpenter was absent for Olympique Lyon’s 3-0 victory away to Le Havre in France’s Premiere Ligue. Carpenter had played a full game in the midweek 4-1 win over Roma in the Champions League.
Daniela Galic was an unused sub for Twente in a 3-2 home win over Feyenoord in the Dutch Eredivisie Women.
