Katrina Gorry was caught in possession after Mackenzie Arnold’s risky short pass leading to a goal as West Ham United managed a 1-1 draw against Manchester United.
Gorry and Arnold both started as relegation-battling West Ham worked hard to earn a point despite the Matildas duo’s mix-up leading to Rachel Williams’ fourth-minute goal in England’s Women Super League on Sunday.
Arnold made up for her part in the goal with a few good saves, including blocking a powerful header from Williams on the stroke of half-time.
Viviane Asseyi equalized late, before a bizarre late moment when Arnold’s kick was blocked by Williams who reached the loose ball first in front of goal, yet put it incredibly wide of an open goal as the Matildas goalkeeper bemoaned the referee letting play go on.
Steph Catley put in a full shift and Caitlin Foord started and played 84 minutes as Arsenal beat Tottenham 1-0 to stay in touch in the WSL title race.
Kyra Cooney-Cross was a 74th minute sub for the Gunners, while Charlotte Grant went unused for Spurs.
Arsenal are third, three points behind both Chelsea and Manchester City.
Mary Fowler was a 79th minute sub as Man City beat Clare Wheeler’s Everton 2-1 on Saturday.
Alanna Kennedy was an unused sub while Wheeler played a full game for the Toffees.
Teagan Micah was an unused sub as Liverpool won 4-1 at Aston Villa, while Courtney Nevin played a full game in Leicester City’s 4-0 home loss to Chelsea. Remy Siemsen went unused.
Ellie Carpenter was an unused substitute after Matildas’ duty as Olympique Lyon won 3-1 at Dijon in the French Feminine Division 1.
Clare Hunt went unused in PSG’s 4-0 home win over Le Havre.
