Katrina Gorry was caught in possession after Mackenzie Arnold’s risky short pass leading to a goal as West Ham United managed a 1-1 draw against Manchester United.
Gorry and Arnold both started as relegation-battling West Ham worked hard to earn a point despite the Matildas duo’s mix-up leading to Rachel Williams’ fourth-minute goal in England’s Women Super League on Sunday.
Arnold made up for her part in the goal with a few good saves, including blocking a powerful header from Williams on the stroke of half-time.
Viviane Asseyi equalized late, before a bizarre late moment when Arnold’s kick was blocked by Williams who reached the loose ball first in front of goal, yet put it incredibly wide of an open goal as the Matildas goalkeeper bemoaned the referee letting play go on.
