Sam Kerr made it three goals in two games with a double for Chelsea in their comprehensive 9-1 win away to Liverpool to reach the English League Cup semi-finals.
Kerr, who scored in midweek in the Women’s UEFA Champions League against Wolfsburg, fired in the opening two goals of the game which quickly turned lopsided.
The Matildas superstar has been in relatively modest goal scoring form since her return from a long-term ACL injury in September, but has now taken her tally to seven goals in 15 club games.
Kerr opened the scoring in the 13th minute with a right-foot snapshot finish after a simple ball from Niamh Charles into the box.
She made it 2-0 in the 17th minute following a gift from the Liverpool defence trying to play out from the back, with Guro Reiten finding Kerr unmarked inside the box, before executing a cool left-foot finish.
Kerr was replaced in the 57th minute with Chelsea 5-0 up. Ellie Carpenter was absent.
Kyra Cooney-Cross provided the assist for Arsenal’s first goal from a corner in their 2-0 victory away to Crystal Palace to qualify for the semi-finals where they’ll face Manchester United.
Cooney-Cross played a rare full 90 minutes, along with Caitlin Foord. Steph Catley was a 61st minute substitute.
Elsewhere, Clare Hunt put in a full shift in Tottenham’s 2-1 loss away to Manchester United.
Katrina Gorry was absent as West Ham United bowed out with a 5-1 defeat to Manchester City.
In France’s Premiere Ligue, Teagan Micah got a rare start for Lyon and kept a clean sheet in a 3-0 home win over Fleury 91.
Micah impressed for Lyon, voted by the club’s fans as their Player of the Match having made three key saves.
