Jackson Irvine wore the captain’s armband as St Pauli continued their recent resurgence with a crucial 2-1 win over Heidenheim in a German Bundesliga relegation battle on Saturday.

Irvine put in a full shift for St Pauli, who were reduced to 10 men but still found a way to win in a relegation six-pointer.

The Kiezkicker have now claimed two wins and a draw from their past three games.

Connor Metcalfe was brought on as a 96th minute substitute as St Pauli wound down the clock.

Mat Ryan’s Levante had their La Liga fixture against Villarreal postponed due to a red weather warning.

Cristian Volpato started and played 87 minutes in Sassuolo’s 2-2 draw away to AC Milan at the San Siro in Italy’s Serie A.

Jordan Bos was a 63rd minute substitute for Feyenoord in a 2-0 loss away to Ajax in the Dutch Eredivisie on Sunday.

Ajdin Hrustic put in a full shift in Heracles’ 4-3 loss away to PSV Eindhoven.

Max Balard played the full game in NAC Breda’s 1-1 draw with Utrecht.

Jed Drew was back for the first time since August having been out with a back injury, playing 25 minutes off the bench in Hartberg’s 2-1 win over Tirol in Austria’s Bundesliga.

Keanu Baccus provided the assist for St Mirren’s opening goal in a shock 3-1 Scottish League Cup final victory over Celtic at Hampden Park on Sunday.

Baccus set up the opener in the second minute with a corner for a towering Marcus Fraser to head home on a famous night for the Buddies.

“I feel amazing, I can’t remember the last trophy I won. I’m lost for words,” Baccus told the BBC.

“I left Australia and came here and it’s been such a big grind. I’m just so glad I came back to the club. The fans are amazing, they’re like a 12th man.

“This is up there with [playing at] the World Cup, for sure.”

In Scotland’s Premiership on Saturday, Tete Yengi was among the goals in Livingston’s 2-2 draw with Dundee

Yengi netted with a header in the 85th minute, clinching Livi’s comeback from 2-0 down.

Ryan McGowan was sent off in the 96th minute due to a last-man challenge.

In England’s Championship, Hayden Matthews impressed with a full game in Portsmouth’s 2-1 win over Blackburn.

The News rated him 8/10 and wrote: “Demonstrated a lot more aggression to his game and he put in his best performance of the season.

“Strong in the air, confident in possession and keen to drive forward. This was the Hayden Matthews of last term.”

Nestory Irankunda remained an unused substitute in Watford’s 2-2 draw with Wrexham.

Raphael Borges Rodrigues, on loan at Wigan from Championship leaders Coventry, scored in their 1-1 draw with Huddersfield in League One.
