Hayley Raso fired an extra-time shot agonizingly wide before Manchester City were bundled out of the English Women’s FA Cup quarter-final with a 2-1 loss to Aston Villa on Sunday.

Raso came on in the 112th minute, with City chasing an equalizer after Rachel Daly put Villa 2-1 up in the 97th minute.

The Matildas winger whipped in a nice 114th-minute cross which was volleyed way over the target, before Raso got her chance in the 123rd minute, jinking forward before lashing her left-foot shot wide.

Mary Fowler was also thrown on in the 105th minute but was unable to help City find a winner.

Alanna Kennedy and Emily Gielnik were both absent.

Sam Kerr was left on the bench for a rest as Chelsea eased into the last four with a 3-1 win at Reading.

Lydia Williams was an unused sub as Brighton got into the semi-finals with a 2-0 win at Birmingham City.

There was also Coupe de France success for Ellie Carpenter, putting in a full shift as Olympique Lyon won 2-0 over Fleury 91 in their semi-final.

Lyon will play Paris Saint-Germain in the Coupe de France final on May 13.

Jacynta Galabadaraachchi started and played a full game as Celtic won 5-1 over Hearts in the Scottish Cup quarter-final on Sunday.

'29 – Jacynta goes on a mazy run and picks out Chance out on the left, it's sent out for a corner but Celtic can't capitalise.
