Nestory Irankunda grabbed his first assist for Watford in the English Championship, helping them to a 2-1 victory over QPR on Saturday.
Irankunda flew down the left flank after being played into space, before his first-time low ball found Luca Kjerrumgaard to put the Hornets ahead in the 19th minute.
The Socceroos forward had started for the first time in the league, getting through 56 minutes in the win.
Adrian Segecic made it two goals in two league games for his new club Portsmouth but could’ve save them from a 2-1 loss to Norwich City.
Segecic rifled in a fizzing 84th minute goal from outside the box on his left foot. He put in a full shift.
The Portsmouth News wrote: “Pompey did pull one back, however, in the 84th minute when Segecic, who had been anonymous in the first half, created something out of absolutely nothing with a low left-footed shot from the edge of the box.”
Thomas Waddingham was a 70th minute sub while Hayden Matthews went unused on the bench for Pompey.
Elsewhere in the Championship, Callum Elder scored Derby County’s first goal in a 5-3 home loss to Coventry City.
Elder, who played a full game, netted in the 12th minute.
Raphael Borges Rodrigues came on late for Coventry as a 97th minute sub.
Sam Silvera started and played 93 minutes in Middlesbrough’s 3-0 win at Millwall. Massimo Luongo was a 79th minute sub for Millwall.
Cameron Burgess put in a full shift in Swansea City’s 1-0 home win over Sheffield United, while Lewis Miller was a 69th minute sub for Blackburn in a 2-1 home defeat to Birmingham City.
Kusini Yengi netted his maiden goal for Aberdeen in a 3-0 win away to Morton in the Scottish League Cup.
Yengi made it 2-0 in the 37th minute from close range, with an assist from fellow Aussie Nicolas Milanovic.
Zac Sapsford missed Dundee United’s 2-1 loss to Kilmarnock due to injury. United manager Jim Goodwin said: “It’s a strained ankle ligament injury so those types of injuries can take anything from 2 to 4 weeks.
“He’s a young lad, he’ll heal quickly. Majorly disappointed not to have him in a really important game today. That’s a major disappointment for us because he’s been a real key player for us up until now.”
Jackson Irvine was absent while Connor Metcalfe was a 91st minute sub in St Pauli’s penalty shootout win over Norderstedt in the German DFB-Pokal after a 0-0 draw.
