Jackson Irvine provided the assist for St Pauli’s goal in a 1-1 draw away to VfL Wolfsburg to boost their survival hopes in Germany’s Bundesliga.

Irvine nodded across goal from a corner for Siebe van der Heyden’s 38th minute goal to put the Pirates up 1-0. Irvine put in a full shift.

St Pauli remain 15th, with a two-point buffer on 16th-placed VfL Bochum.

In Belgium’s Pro League, Aiden O’Neill was given his marching orders for a second bookable offence in Standard Liege’s 3-0 loss to Union SG.

O’Neill had started the game but was dismissed in the 59th minute, only minutes after picking up his first booking.

Elsewhere, Rhys Youlley was a 70th minute substitute for Westerlo in their 2-0 win over Anderlecht. Jordan Bos remains out injured.

In Italy’s Serie B, Cristian Volpato was the hero with an 82nd minute equalizer to earn Sassuolo a 1-1 draw with Bari.

Volpato came on at half-time and proved the hero for Sassuolo with a left-foot volley after a set piece was partially cleared.

In France’s Ligue 1, Mat Ryan kept a clean sheet as Lens scored a late goal to stun second-placed Olympique Marseille 1-0.

In Spain’s Segunda Division, Denis Genreau was a 73rd minute substitute in Deportivo Coruna’s 1-1 home draw with Cordoba.

In Switzerland’s Super League, Nestory Irankunda won a penalty for Grasshoppers but they went down 3-1 to St Gallen. Irankunda started and played 68 minutes.

In England’s Premier League, Cameron Burgess went unused on the bench in Ipswich Town’s 1-0 loss away to Crystal Palace moving them a step closer to the drop.

In England’s Championship, Kusini Yengi was a 90th minute sub and Thomas Waddingham was an unused sub as Portsmouth shocked Leeds United 1-0.

Callum Elder put in a full shift as Derby County beat Blackburn 2-1, while Alex Robertson was a 72nd minute sub for Cardiff City in their 2-1 loss at Sunderland.

Caleb Watts scored Exeter City’s opening goal in a 2-0 victory over Shrewsbury Town in England’s League One.

John Iredale maintained his goal scoring form in Korea’s K League 2 with his second goal in three games in their 4-2 win over Suwon Bluewings.

Iredale was a half-time substitute and put his side 4-1 up with his 76th minute strike.
