Connor Metcalfe came off the bench to score a late leveler for St Pauli after Jackson Irvine’s own goal in a 2-2 draw at Greuther Furth in Germany’s 2.Bundesliga on Saturday.

Metcalfe was introduced in the 79th minute, making his third appearance for St Pauli, and fired in a low left-foot strike from the edge of the box five minutes later.

Irvine put in a full shift for St Pauli but had a moment to forget when he headed into his own net from Tobias Raschl’s right-flank cross in the 52nd minute.

The Socceroo had hit the crossbar with a 30th-minute header from a St Pauli set-piece.

Ajdin Hrustic was in the Hellas Verona matchday squad on Sunday following his deadline day move from VfB Stuttgart. Hrustic remained an unused substitute as Verona won 2-1 over Sampdoria in Italy’s Serie A.

Bruce Kamau was a 59th minute substitute for OFI in their 1-0 triumph away to Volos in the Greek Super League on Sunday. That marked Kamau’s first appearance of the new season.

Caleb Watts provided an assist in his first start for Morecambe as they drew 2-2 at Bristol Rovers in England’s League One on Saturday.

Watts, on loan at Morecambe from Premier League club Southampton, did well on a break in midfield to gather and control the ball before surging forward.

The 2020 Tokyo Olympics Olyroo took a few touches before putting through a well-weighted pass for Keiran Phillips to net with a first-time finish.

The 20-year-old made four appearances for the Saints in the 2020-21 campaign, including three in the Premier League before getting injured during his loan spell at Crawley Town in January last term.

Elsewhere, another young Aussie Premier League talent Tyrese Francois wasn’t in the Fulham matchday squad for their 2-1 loss at Tottenham, after being sent to Croatian top flight club HNK Gorica on a season-long loan deal.

Francois debuted on Saturday as a 58th minute substitute for Gorica in a 2-1 loss to Varazdin. Deni Juric was a half-time substitute for Gorica and scored their goal in the 61st minute with a stunning left-foot shot before being sent off in stoppage time for a second yellow card.

Alou Kuol wasn’t in the VfB Stuttgart matchday squad for their 1-1 draw with Schalke 04 in the German Bundesliga on Saturday.

Mat Ryan played a full game and had some key moments as FC Copenhagen won 1-0 over Silkeborg in the Danish Superliga on Friday night.

Jimmy Jeggo and Jason Davidson both started and played 88 minutes as KAS Eupen lost 1-0 to Kortrijk in the Belgian First Division A.

Awer Mabil was absent altogether from Cadiz’s matchday squad for their 3-0 loss to Celta Vigo in Spain’s La Liga, amid reports he tried to seal a loan move away on deadline day.

Aaron Mooy came on as a 73rd minute substitute as Celtic thrashed Rangers 4-0 in the Old Firm in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday.

Martin Boyle put in a full shift and won BBC’s Player of the Match as Hibernian edged Kilmarnock 1-0 with Lewis Miller an unused sub. Boyle was scythed down by Ash Taylor, who was sent off for the 10th-minute offence.

Aziz Behich was back in the Dundee United starting XI, playing a full game at left-back while Mark Birighitti was absent injured as they drew 0-0 at Motherwell.

Nathaniel Atkinson (groin) and Kye Rowles (foot) were absent as Hearts lost 1-0 at Livingston. Cam Devlin started and played 56 minutes for Hearts, while Phillip Cancar was unused for Livi.

Ryan McGowan put in a full shift as St Johnstone won 3-0 over St Mirren, who had Keanu Baccus play a full game and Ryan Strain start and play 59 minutes.

Aaron Calver headed in a dramatic late equalizer from a corner before Gwangju found a 95th minute winner in a 2-1 victory over Gimpo Citizen in Korea’s K League 2.

Mitch Duke provided an assist as Fagiano Okayama won 2-0 over Machida Zerubia in Japan’s J2 League on Sunday to boost their promotion hopes.

Duke held up play on the edge of the box and got the pass for Kodai Sano’s goal to make it 2-0, with the result moving Okayama up to third after 34 games. The top two automatically go up.
