Calem Nieuwenhof showed composure with a clever pass for Lawrence Shankland’s 79th minute equalizer as Hearts rescued a 2-2 draw with Ross County in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday.

Nieuwenhof, who put in a full shift earlier in the week in Hearts’ 1-0 derby win over Hibernian, laid off the pass on the edge of the box for Shankland’s low strike

The 22-year-old midfielder, who missed selection in the Socceroos’ Asian Cup squad, played a full game and earned a 6/10 rating from Edinburgh Evening News.

Edinburgh Evening News wrote: “Anchor man in midfield. Saw a lot of the ball. Could have moved it quicker on a few occasions.”

Kye Rowles and Nathaniel Atkinson, who both are headed for the Asian Cup, played full games and earned 7/10 ratings.

On Rowles, Edinburgh Evening News wrote: “The Australian was assured at centre-back but did not look as comfortable when moved to left-back before Kingsley came on.”

On Atkinson, Edinburgh Evening News wrote: “Good individual performance by a player improving game-by-game.”

Keanu Baccus put in a full shift as St Mirren won 3-0 at Aberdeen, while Ryan McGowan played a full game as St Johnstone beat Hibernian 1-0.

Martin Boyle and Jimmy Jeggo both played full games for Hibs in that match, while Lewis Miller started but was replaced at half-time.

Cristian Volpato was a 65th minute substitute as Sassuolo went down 1-0 away to AC Milan in the Italian Serie A.

Craig Goodwin put in a full shift as Al Wehda lost 1-0 to Al Shabab in the Saudi Arabian Pro League.

Among the midweek highlights was a starting Championship debut for 23-year-old goalkeeper Jacob Chapman as Huddersfield lost 2-1 at home to Middlesbrough.

Riley McGree saw minutes for the third straight game in that clash, playing as a 78th minute sub as he builds up for the Asian Cup after a foot injury sidelined him for two months.

On the lowlight side, Nicholas Bilokapic limped out of Peterborough’s 2-2 draw with Barnsley after a kick to his foot.

Aiden O’Neill played a full game in midfield in Belgium’s top flight in a 1-1 draw between Standard Liege and Sint-Truiden while Jordan Bos put in a full shift as resurgent Westerlo beat RWDM 3-0.

Alessandro Circati played a full game as Parma won 2-0 at Brescia to remain top of Italy’s Serie B, six points clear.
