Harry Souttar may have produced a Player of the Match display in Leicester City’s midweek draw with Newcastle but he was an unused substitute on Sunday as they were relegated from the Premier League.

Souttar’s Foxes won 2-1 over West Ham United, but needed 17th-placed Everton to not win against Bournemouth, with the Toffees triumphing 1-0.

The result means Leicester go down alongside Leeds United and Southampton. Souttar is contracted with Leicester until 2028, having joined the Foxes in January on a five-and-a-half-year deal.

Souttar had starred in Monday’s draw with Newcastle, earning an 8/10 rating from Leicestershire Live, who wrote: “This is the sort of match in which he thrives. It was a backs-against-the-wall job, and the big Aussie showed his qualities, heading away countless crosses and timing his interventions well.”

Cameron Peupion wasn’t in the Brighton & Hove Albion squad for their final game of the season, losing 2-1 at Aston Villa. The Seagulls finished sixth and have qualified for the Europa League for the first time.

Ajdin Hrustic was an unused substitute as Hellas Verona conceded a costly late equalizer to draw 1-1 with Empoli in Italy’s Serie A.

Verona are 18th with one game to play, level on points with 17th-placed Spezia. Verona go to Milan on the final day, while Spezia face Roma away.

Mat Ryan put in a full shift as AZ Alkmaar finished their Dutch Eredivisie campaign in fourth after a 2-1 home loss to PSV Eindhoven.

AZ’s fourth spot means they are into the Europa Conference League qualifying round.

Also on Sunday, Jackson Irvine and Connor Metcalfe both started as St Pauli’s German 2.Bundesliga campaign ended with a 1-1 home draw with Karlsruhe.

Irvine was replaced at half-time while Metcalfe started and played 75 minutes, with St Pauli finishing fifth. Metcalfe had a shot hit the post inside the first 10 minutes.

Aziz Behich returned from suspension and put in a full shift as Dundee United lost 3-2 at Motherwell, meaning they were relegated from the Scottish Premiership. Mark Birighitti was dropped to the bench last week and was again an unused sub.

Kye Rowles, Cameron Devlin and Nathaniel Atkinson all put in full shifts as Hearts finished the Scottish Premiership season with a 1-1 home draw with Hibernian after Garang Kuol’s midweek goal.

Kuol scored his maiden goal in Europe with a 94th-minute equalizer in Hearts’ 2-2 draw at Rangers, having come off the bench in the 83rd minute.

The Socceroos teenager, however, wasn’t used against Hibs on Saturday, meaning he finished the season with eight appearances, totalling 197 minutes, and one goal from his loan spell for Hearts.

Edinburgh Evening News rated Rowles 6/10 for Saturday’s display, writing: “Moved to left-back when Cochrane was sent off and beaten too easily in that position initially by Cadden. But played his part defensively.”

Devlin was rated 7/10: “Just the man Hearts needed in the circumstances, with hard work, tenacity and determination required. The Australian delivered just that.”

Atkinson was rated 8/10: “Elie Youan is a tricky opponent and high on confidence after a double against Celtic, but the Australian kept him quiet and minimised he threat.”

In Saturday’s Edinburgh derby, Jimmy Jeggo and Lewis Miller both started and played the first half before being replaced at half-time for Hibs.

Aaron Mooy didn’t play as Celtic lifted the Premiership trophy which they’d clinched last week. Celtic won 5-0 over Aberdeen on Saturday.

Ryan Strain started but was replaced after eight minutes due to a groin injury while Keanu Baccus put in a full shift as St Mirren lost 3-0 at home to Rangers.

Denis Genreau was left unused on the bench as midtable Toulouse made it four straight draws with a 1-1 home draw with AJ Auxerre in the penultimate round in the French Ligue 1.

Mohamed Toure was an unused substitute as 11th-placed Reims lost 3-0 at Olympique Lyon.

Alou Kuol was absent as VfB Stuttgart avoided immediate relegation, although they’ll face a playoff, after managing a final day 2-2 draw with Hoffenheim in the German Bundesliga.

Sydney-born Cristian Volpato was an unused substitute as AS Roma lost 2-1 at Fiorentina in the Italian Serie A, leaving them in danger of slipping outside the top six.

Awer Mabil was a 65th minute substitute for Sparta Prague as they lost 1-0 at home to Viktoria Plzen, however they had already clinched the Czech First League title during the week.
