Caitlin Foord and Steph Catley both played their part as Arsenal kept alive their English Women’s Super League title hopes and ended Manchester City’s 13-game winning streak.
The Gunners triumphed 1-0 thanks to Olivia Smith’s 17th minute strike, meaning fourth-placed Arsenal are 10 points behind leaders City, with a game in hand.
Catley started and played 84 minutes, earning a 7/10 rating from Goal.com who wrote: “Solid in possession and positioned herself well to limit the opportunities City could create.”
Foord put in a full shift and was rated 7/10 by Goal.com who wrote: “Had a really lively first half in particular, consistently putting City on the back foot with her direct and positive play. A little quieter in the second period.”
Sam Kerr was a late substitute as Chelsea eased some of the pressure on them with a 2-0 win at Totttenham.
Kerr was a 79th minute substitute but went goalless while Ellie Carpenter put in a full shift and earned a 6/10 rating.
Goal.com wrote about Carpenter: “Lost out in her duels a little more than usual but carried the ball well and covered plenty of ground to support the attack and defence.”
For Spurs, Clare Hunt played the full game at centre-back while Charli Grant remains out injured.
Katrina Gorry was a 64th minute substitute, with her introducing coinciding with West Ham’s stirring comeback to win 3-2 over Brighton & Hove Albion.
The result lifts the struggling Hammers up to 10th and away from the drop zone. For Brighton, Charlize Rule started and played an hour.
Alanna Kennedy and Clare Wheeler both played full games for their respective sides as Everton won 1-0 at London City Lionesses.
Wini Heatley put in a full shift for AS Roma in their 1-0 home win over AC Milan in the Italy’s Serie A Femminile.
Elsewhere, Alex Chidiac played the full game in Como’s 2-0 home loss to Juventus.
Jessika Nash was a 94th minute substitute while Jacynta Galabadaarachchi went unused for Sassuolo in their 1-0 home win over Parma.
Teagan Micah wasn’t even on the bench for Lyon in their 4-0 victory over St Etienne in France’s Premiere Ligue.
Hayley Raso went unused in Eintracht Frankfurt’s 1-0 triumph over Bayer Leverkusen in Germany’s Frauen-Bundesliga.
