Mohamed Toure scored on his Norwich City debut following his transfer from Denmark, helping the Canaries to a much-needed win in their Championship relegation fight.

Norwich downed struggling Blackburn 2-0 on Saturday, with Toure netting his side’s second goal in the 78th minute.

The Australian had come off the bench in the 51st minute, injected for the injured Jovon Makama with scores at 0-0.

Toure scored Norwich’s second only minutes after the first, following up to score with a volleyed finish after Oscar Schwartau’s initial effort was parried across goal.

Norwich manager Philippe Clement said: “He’s more than a goal scorer. He has other qualities. I don’t want to say too much because my friends in Oxford will be listening.

“He’s a young talented player. He’s not yet a top scorer. He’s not been until now. We as a staff will work really hard to get him in the right places.

“We told him also, and they all know, the way we play, our striker will every game have some chances to score some goals. They need to be in the right positions.”

Lewis Miller played 76 minutes for Rovers at right-back, earning a 6/10 rating from Lancashire Telegraph, who wrote: “Solid enough at right-back but didn’t find any attacking rhythm with Alebiosu down the right.”

On Sunday, Cam Burgess put in a full shift as Swansea City pulled up to midtable with a 4-0 home win over Sheffield Wednesday.

Burgess was rated 7/10 by Wales Online, who wrote: “Solid if not spectacular. Headed everything clear that came his way.”

Daniel Bennie was a 58th minute sub for QPR in their 0-0 draw at Charlton. That’s the sixth game in a row that Bennie has got game-time. Kealey Adamson was unused.

Adrian Segecic started and played 86 minutes in Portsmouth’s 1-0 defeat at Preston North End.

Segecic was rated 6/10 by Portsmouth News, who wrote: “Huge calls for a penalty in 30 minutes when Storey challenged him from behind, yet a goal kick was given.

“Ploughed on with usual energy and effort, but very little came. Mixed results with his corner delivery.”

Ajdin Hrustic played the full 90 minutes in Heracles’ 4-1 loss away to second-placed NEC Nijmegen in the Dutch Eredivisie on Saturday.

Max Balard put in a full shift and wore the captain’s armband for last-placed NAC Breda in a 2-0 home defeat to Excelsior.

Jordan Bos started and played 82 minutes for Feyenoord in their 1-0 win at FC Utrecht on Sunday.

Cam Peupion started and played 56 minutes as leaders ADO Den Haag got their promotion push back on track with a 3-0 win at Josh Nisbet’s Roda JC in the Eerste Divisie. Nisbet put in a full shift for Roda who are sixth.

Jackson Irvine played a full game, his first since December after a foot concern, as St Pauli secured a surprise 2-1 victory over VfB Stuttgart to boost their survival hopes.

Alessandro Circati played the full game as Parma claimed an important 1-0 win at Bologna in a game where both sides were reduced to 10 men in Italy’s Serie A.

Cristian Volpato was an unused sub in Sassuolo’s 5-0 home loss to Inter Milan.

Mat Ryan made some good saves but couldn’t prevent 10-man Levante from going down 4-2 to Athletic Bilbao in Spain’s La Liga on Sunday.

Paul Izzo kept a clean sheet while Musa Toure was a 46th minute substitute in Randers’ 0-0 draw at Brondby in the Danish Superliga on Sunday.

Garang Kuol started and played 69 minutes for Sparta Prague in a 3-0 victory away to Zlin in the Czech Chance Liga.

Milos Degenek put in a full shift for APOEL who went down 2-1 to AEK Larnaca in the Cyprus League.
