Sam Kerr scored a double and Ellie Carpener also netted as Chelsea returned to Women’s Super League action with a 4-1 win away to Clare Wheeler’s Everton on Sunday.
Kerr banged in Chelsea’s first two goals, opening the scoring in the sixth minute after Erin Cuthbert threaded a pass for the Matildas striker, who slotted past the on-rushing Everton keeper.
But Wheeler helped Everton pull level, with the assist for Yuka Momiki’s 10th minute audacious long-range equaliser.

Kerr, however, restored Chelsea’s lead two minutes into the second half from Lauren James’ right-wing pass, sliding home first time. Soon after, Kerr had a back-post header cleared off the line.
The Aussies kept up their attacking impact when Carpenter netted in the 53rd minute to put the Blues up 3-1, with Kerr playing a role in the lead-up sliding Alyssa Thompson in on the right to set up Carpenter who swept home from close range.
Kerr played a rare full 90 minutes along with Carpenter. Wheeler put in a full shift for the Toffees who are midtable after three straight losses.
