Socceroos striker Mohamed Toure resumed his excellent form ahead of the 2026 World Cup with a hat-trick for Norwich City in their 4-2 win over Bristol City in England’s Championship.
Toure struck all three goals within 24 second-half minutes for the Canaries, who moved up to ninth on the table with the win.
The Aussie equalised in the 51st minute, reacting first to a rebound after his header was saved by the Bristol keeper.
Toure netted again to put Norwich up 2-1 in the 70th minute with a routine tap-in after Oscar Schwartau broke clear and cut the ball back inside.
He completed his hat-trick in the 75th minute, with a fortunate deflection after Paris Maghoma’s drive from outside the box.
Toure has now scored seven goals in eight league appearance since his switch from Danish club Randers in January. He also overcame injury which recently sidelined him for six games.
“I’m very happy to contribute to the win today,” Toure said via Norwich City.
“We got out of the blocks pretty slow in the first half. Then we came out in the second half with a different mentality. We just showed what we could do.”
Elsewhere, Harry Souttar was in the Leicester City matchday squad again but remained unused on the bench as they lost 1-0 at Portsmouth in a blow to their survival hopes.
For Pompey, Adrian Segecic came on early due to an injury and supplied the assist for the winner.
Nestory Irankunda put in a full shift in Watford’s 2-0 home defeat to Sheffield United, while Cameron Burgess played a full game in Swansea City’s 2-1 home loss to Southampton.
Kealey Adamson and Daniel Bennie warmed the bench in QPR’s 2-0 loss at Millwall.
On Sunday, Riley McGree missed promotion hopefuls Middlesbrough’s 2-2 draw with Ipswich Town due to a knock from training.
Boro boss Kim Hellberg said: “It’s a small knock with Riley, but he couldn’t play this game.
“It’s one of those things that can happen on the training pitch, a small knock. I hope he will be back on Wednesday, that is my hope. If not, it should hopefully be Saturday, it should not be a big thing.”
Sam Silvera got 10 minutes off the bench for Boro.
Alex Robertson’s Cardiff City secured promotion to the Championship with a 3-1 win at Reading on Saturday. Robertson started and played 67 minutes in the win.
Awer Mabil turned the game with a goal and an assist for Castellon in Spain’s La Liga 2 in a 3-1 win over Burgos CF.
Mabil had entered the fray as a substitute in the 71st minute, teeing up Alex Calatrava’s goal for 2-1 in the 79th minute.
Two minutes, Mabil scored to put his side 3-1 up. It was his first club goal since January.
