Sam Kerr netted a double, Emily Gielnik and Tameka Yallop both scored their first goals for their new clubs and Alanna Kennedy had a nightmare moment with a backpass as Catilin Foord returned from injury.

Sam Kerr scored two goals and set up another as Chelsea trounced Manchester United 6-1 in the English Women’s Super League on Sunday.

Kerr swooped on a defensive error by United, poking a right-foot pass to Fran Kirby for a simple second-minute finish.

Kirby returned the favour in the 41st minute, laying off for Kerr to sweep home to make it 3-1.

Kerr got on the end of Kirby’s low ball across goal, netting at the second attempt, for the fourth in the 51st minute.

Tameka Yallop scored a debut goal for West Ham United in their 4-0 win over Leicester City on Sunday.

After spurning an early chance, Yallop got in behind the Leicester defence and calmly slotted for 1-0 in the 26th minute.

Yallop almost had a second in the 81st minute when her headed cannoned off the bar and deflected into the back of the net off goalkeeper Kirstie Levell.

Yallop was replaced in the 93rd minute while Mackenzie Arnold kept a clean sheet and was barely tested.

Alanna Kennedy‘s wayward backpass proved costly as Arsenal swooped for the opening goal in the Gunners’ 5-0 win over Manchester City on Sunday.

Kennedy put in a full shift while Caitlin Foord returned from injury as a 78th minute substitute. Steph Catley also played a full game while Lydia Williams was an unused sub.

Emily Gielnik scored the winner with a 48th-minute strike in Aston Villa’s 1-0 victory away to Brighton.

Gielnik, who played the full game in her second appearance for Villa since her move from Vittsjo, produced a composed dinked finish.

Ellie Carpenter was back for Olympique Lyon, playing a full game and getting an early assist in a 4-0 win over Guingamp in France’s Feminine Division 1.

In bad news, Kansas City-based midfielder Chloe Logarzo confirmed she had sustained an ACL injury which is typically a 12-month absence.
