Sam Kerr scored in her match-up against Mackenzie Arnold as Gotham FC drew 2-2 away to Portland Thorns in USA’s National Women’s Soccer League.
Kerr rifled the ball home from close range in the 62nd minute, making it 2-2, for her maiden Gotham goal in her second stint in the USA.
The Matildas star initially tried to glance home a header from a corner, only for it to be blocked on the line before a defender, falling kindly for her to lash home. Arnold could do nothing about it.
Kerr almost broke clear for a match-winner in the 73rd minute, only for Jayden Perry to haul her down and be sent off as a last player foul.
Kerr played 78 minutes in the contest, which was her third appearance for Gotham since making the move from Chelsea.
It was also Kerr’s first goal, having notched an assist in last week’s 3-2 win over Seattle Reign after coming on for a 30-minute cameo.
