Jackson Irvine got an assist but couldn’t prevent relegation-threatened St Pauli from slumping to a 2-1 defeat away to RB Leipzig in Germany’s Bundesliga on Saturday.

The result means St Pauli are last on the table, with one game to play. However, St Pauli are level on points with two other teams, Wolfsburg and Heidenheim heading into the final gameday.

St Pauli also host Wolfsburg on the final gameday, offering hope of survival, with one side set to claim the promotion/relegation playoff spot.

Irvine played a full game and Connor Metcalfe made a rare start, playing 89 minutes, in St Pauli’s defeat.

Irvine looped a header forward for Abdoulie Ceesay to rifle home in the 86th minute for what proved to be a mere consolation.

Mat Ryan played his part with some key saves as Levante rallied from 2-0 down to win 3-2 over Osasuna to keep alive their survival hopes in Spain’s La Liga.

Levante are now two points from safety with three games to play in the La Liga season.

Riley McGree earned a 7/10 rating as Middlesbrough settled for a 0-0 draw at home with Southampton in their English Championship promotion play-off first leg.

Teesside Live wrote: “Was at the heart of so many positive things Boro did in the first half, including creating Tommy Conway’s big chance. Visibly tired in the second half.”

Sam Silvera was an unused sub for Boro. Massimo Luongo was absent with injury as Millwall drew 0-0 at Hull City in their first leg.

Alessandro Circati played the full game in a three-man backline for Parma as they went down 3-2 at home to AS Roma in Italy’s Serie A.

Max Balard played throughout before relegated NAC Breda’s Dutch Eredivisie clash with Heerenveen was suspended in the 82nd minute with the Aussie’s 2-0 up due to fan protests, throwing flares on the pitch.

Rhys Bozinovski started and played 67 minutes while Ajdin Hrustic was absent as relegated Heracles lost 3-0 at Telstar.

Jordan Bos put in a full shift in a more advanced left wing role in Feyenoord’s 1-1 draw with AZ.

Cammy Devlin was an 87th minute substitute for Hearts who stumbled with a 1-1 draw at Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership.

The result allowed Celtic to close the gap on the leaders to one point with two games to play after beating Rangers 3-1.

Oscar Priestman played the full 90 for Motherwell while Johnny Koutroumbis was a  77th minute substitute.

Patrick Yazbek missed Nashville’s 2-2 draw with Kye Rowles’ DC United in USA’s MLS due to a concerning quad injury.

Nashville boss BJ Callaghan said ahead of the game: “Patrick suffered a quad injury – in terms of a specific timetable, I don’t have (one).

“I can tell you that he will be at least out… he won’t be back before the World Cup break. He’s a key piece to what we do, both with the ball and without the ball, but it’s going to be an opportunity for guys to step up.”

Aiden O’Neill missed New York City’s 3-0 win over Columbus Crew due to an ankle injury, while Kai Trewin put in a full shift in midfield.

Nashville SC head coach BJ Callaghan confirms that Patrick Yazbek suffered a quad injury in the warmups before Tigres and will not be back before the World Cup break.
