Matildas superstars Sam Kerr and Mary Fowler were both on the scoresheet as Manchester City edged Chelsea in their FA Cup semi-final 3-2 after extra-time on Sunday.
Kerr continued her excellent recent form, making it eight goals in her past eight games in all competitions, with Chelsea’s second for 2-0 in the 59th minute.
The Matildas forward had held up play for Erin Cuthbert’s opener, before Kerr had a close-range finish from Ellie Carpenter’s cutback ruled out, due to the ball rolling over the line prior to the cross.
Kerr headed home into an empty net on the hour after the City keeper lost a standard Lauren James’ cross from the right flank.
Kerr had a 69th minute goal ruled out again, this time for offside, from Cuthbert’s lofted cross.
But Fowler helped turn the game for City after entering the fray at 2-0 down in the 85th minute, scoring barely 60 seconds later with a long-range left-foot effort.
Khadija Shaw’s goal sent the game to extra-time where Shaw struck again for the winner in the 103rd minute.
Kerr was replaced in the 93rd minute, while Carpenter put in a full shift at right-back.
Fowler’s City will take on Brighton & Hove Albion in the final after Charlize Rule’s side also came back from a two-goal deficit to down Liverpool 3-2. Rule put in a full shift for the Seagulls.
In Italy’s Serie A Femminile, Wini Heatley played a full game as champions AS Roma won 3-0 at Sassuolo.
Jessika Nash and Jacynta Galabadaarachchi were both unused subs for Sassuolo.
Elsewhere, Alex Chidiac played the full game as Como drew 0-0 with Napoli.
In Germany’s Frauen Bundesliga, Hayley Raso was a 70th minute substitute for Eintracht Frankfurt in a 2-0 loss at Bayern Munich.
In Sweden’s Damallsvenskan, Remy Siemsen scored for Rosengard in a 2-1 loss away to Pitea.
