Sam Kerr continued her goal scoring form with the opener in Chelsea’s 3-1 win away to Leicester City in the English Women’s Super League on Sunday.
Kerr headed home the opening goal in the 13th minute, rising high to glance in Niamh Charles’ lofted cross from the left side of the box.
The goal meant Kerr has now scored in each of her past five games in all competitions, including Matildas duty.
For Chelsea, Kerr has scored five goals and provided two assists in their past five games.
Kerr was replaced after 62 minutes, while Ellie Carpenter put in a full shift at right-back.
Emily van Egmond stated and played 78 minutes for the Foxes.
Mary Fowler made a fleeting cameo off the bench as Manchester City scored late to edge Liverpool 1-0 and remain six points clear of Chelsea at the top.
Third-placed Arsenal, who have several games in hand, weren’t in WSL action this weekend due to their UEFA Champions League semi-final which they lost 3-1 to Lyon and 4-3 on aggregate.
Caitlin Foord played a full game for the Gunners and picked up a late booking as they bowed out despite a 2-1 first-leg home win.
Steph Catley, who signed a new Arsenal contract in midweek, was absent due to injury.
