Jackson Irvine (foot) and Connor Metcalfe (knee) were both absent due to injuries for St Pauli’s 3-2 loss to Borussia Dortmund in the German Bundesliga.
Irvine has been ruled out “until further notice” according to St Pauli, in a major concern ahead of the World Cup in June.
The Socceroo has suffered a recurrence of the stress injury in his left foot from last year which sidelined him for months.
“The next steps are now being discussed by all the parties involved,” St Pauli said in a statement.

Mat Ryan was in the thick of the action in Levante’s 2-0 loss away to Real Madrid in Spain’s La Liga. He finished with a season-high nine saves.
The Australian made several good saves but couldn’t prevent Kylian Mbappe’s 57th minute penalty, with the Frenchman sliding his spot-kick past him after a staggered approach.
Mbappe wheeled away in celebration, mocking Ryan somewhat with a mimicking gesture of the goalkeeper’s body feint movements on the line, sparking some debate.

Jordan Bos played the full game at left-back as Feyenoord lost a dramatic Rotterdam derby, going down 4-3 to Sparta Rotterdam in the Dutch Eredivisie on Sunday.
Max Balard played the full 90 in NAC Breda’s 4-3 home loss to NEC Nijmegen. Balard’s side are currently in the relegation playoff spots down in 17th.
Ajdin Hrustic put in a full shift in Heracles’ 2-0 home defeat to Twente, which leaves his side in last position. Hrustic was booked for holding and will miss his side’s next game.
Cameron Peupion played the full game in ADO Den Haag’s 2-1 home loss to second-place Cambuur in the Eerste Divisie. The result means ADO are only two points clear now, having lost their past two games.
Cam Devlin was absent as Hearts bowed out of the Scottish Cup on penalties following a 1-1 draw with Falkirk.
It has also emerged Devlin will miss 6-8 weeks with a lower leg injury.
Tete Yengi missed his spotkick in Livingston’s penalty shootout defeat to St Mirren, going down 3-2 after a 1-1 draw. Ryan McGowan converted his spotkick for Livi.
Nicolas Milanovic made a rare start, playing 57 minutes for Aberdeen, in their 1-0 cup triumph over Raith.
In England’s Championship, Sam Silvera kept up his excellent recent form for promotion hopefuls Middlesbrough with a goal and assist in their 3-2 win at West Brom in England’s Championship.
Gazette Live rated Silvera 8/10 and wrote: “His fine form continued as he produced an excellent finish to put Boro 2-0 up.
“You could argue it was his defensive work that was equally as eye catching in this one, as he regularly got back with determination to win the ball back for his side. Did give away the foul that led to West Brom’s first as he was a little over-zealous on the edge.”
Adrian Segecic netted the winner for Portsmouth in the 65th minute as they claimed an important 1-0 win over last-placed Sheffield Wednesday in their relegation battle.
Portsmouth News rated Segecic 7/10 and wrote: “Just before half-time he took a heavy touch from Alli’s excellent pass and wasted a shooting chance. But when the two combined again after the break, it led to Pompey’s opener. Lovely first-time left-footed finish too, yet was a really quiet game for the Australian.”
Hayden Matthews missed the game with an ankle injury expected to keep him out for 8-10 weeks.
