Sam Kerr had a disappointing game as Chelsea’s English Women’s Super League title hopes took a major hit with a 2-0 home loss to Arsenal.
Kerr started and played 57 minutes for the Blues, coughing up possession and appealing for a foul in the lead-up to the Gunners’ opening goal.
Goal.com rated Kerr 3/10 and wrote: “Got robbed of possession in the build-up to Arsenal’s opener, with some home fans upset with the decision of no foul. Didn’t get many opportunities and was substituted early on.”
Ellie Carpenter full in a full shift for Chelsea. Goal.com rated her 6/10 and wrote: “Had a tasty battle with McCabe down the right flank, winning some duels and losing a few as well.”
The result leaves reigning champions Chelsea in second but nine points behind leaders Manchester City, with Arsenal in third, one point behind the Blues.
For Arsenal, Steph Catley played a full game and was rated 6/10 by Goal.com who wrote: “Made a couple of vital blocks in a solid if unspectacular showing.”
Caitlin Foord put in a full shift in attack but only earned a 5/10 rating from Goal.com who wrote: “Put in an anonymous performance from the left flank. Failed to track the run of Cuthbert, who, fortunately for Arsenal, failed to hit the target with a free header.”
West Ham captain Katrina Gorry played the full game as the struggling Hammers claimed a much-needed 2-1 win away from home against Leicester City.
Emily van Egmond was a 79th minute substitute for the Foxes.
Clare Hunt put in a full shift for Tottenham in their 2-0 loss at bottom-placed Liverpool, who kept the pressure on the Hammers in their relegation battle.
Clare Wheeler started and played 79 minutes for Everton who went down 1-0 at home to Brighton, to leave them in the relegation fight.
Charlize Rule started and was replaced in second-half stoppage time for Dario Vidosic’s Seagulls who are sixth.
Alanna Kennedy played the full 90 in the centre of defence in London City Lionesses’ 2-1 loss to her former club and WSL leaders Manchester City.
In Italy’s Serie A Femminile, Wini Heatley made her first league start since a red card in early November, putting in a full shift and helping keep a clean sheet in AS Roma’s 1-0 triumph at Genoa.
Jessika Nash played the full game while Jacynta Galabadaarachchi started and played 68 minutes in Sassuolo’s 2-0 home loss to Napoli.
Alex Chidiac put in a full shift for Como in a 3-2 home loss to Internazionale.
Teagan Micah wasn’t in the OL Lyonnes’ starting line-up for their 5-1 win over Marseille in the Coupe de France.
Hayley Raso’s Eintracht Frankfurt had their German Frauen-Bundesliga clash with Jamilla Rankin’s Hoffenheim postponed due to an unplayable pitch.
