Jordan Bos got on the scoresheet as Feyenoord won 4-2 over Ajdin Hrustic’s struggling Heracles in the Dutch Eredivisie on Sunday.
Bos netted Feyenoord’s second goal to make it 2-1 in the 35th minute, making it three goals this Eredivisie campaigni.
However, it was Bos who committed the foul which earned Heracles their spotkick, converted by Luka Kulenovic, to make it 1-1, having trodden on the foot of Lequincio Zeefuik.
He made amends with his left-foot strike, eclipsing a defender with a back post run before rifling in Hwang In-Beom’s cutback inside the box.
Bos played a full game in the win, which keeps Feyenoord in second spot.
Hrustic missed the game due to suspension, following on from an accumulation of yellow cards.
Elsewhere, Max Balard put in a full shift as 17th placed NAC Breda claimed an impressive point with a 2-2 at runaway leaders PSV Eindhoven.
Jackson Irvine allayed any foot injury fears, playing the final half hour of St Pauli’s 0-0 home draw with rivals Hamburg SV in the German Bundesliga.
Irvine was a 65th minute substitute for St Pauli, while Connor Metcalfe remains sidelined with a knee injury.
Mat Ryan played his part as Levante triumphed 3-2 over Elche in Spain’s La Liga, helping his 19th-placed side boost their survival hopes. They are four points out of safety.
Antonio Arena was absent for AS Roma in their 1-1 draw with AC Milan in Italy’s Serie A on Sunday.
Alessandro Circati started but was replaced at half-time as part of a triple substitution with Parma 2-0 down. However, Parma still went down 4-0 away to Atalanta.
Cammy Devlin missed Hearts’ 2-2 draw with Celtic in the Scottish Premiership due to an ankle injury. Hearts remain top of the table, four points clear of second-placed Rangers.
Lewis Miller scored Blackburn’s goal with a header from a corner in their 1-1 home draw with Watford in England’s Championship.
Miller, who played 61 minutes, glanced home Todd Cantwell’s 28th minute cross.
The Socceroo earned a 7/10 rating from Lancashire Telegraph who wrote: “Clever finish at the near post to bring Rovers level immediately after they conceded. Solid on his return after injury.”
Nestory Irankunda was a 64th minute substitute for the Hornets.
Riley McGree made his return after a month out with injury, coming on in the 74th minute of Middlesbrough’s 4-0 home win over Preston North End.
