Tom Rogic shook off the ankle injury which kept him out of Socceroos duty with a goal as Celtic won the Old Firm 2-1 over Rangers to take a strangehold in the Scottish Premiership title race.
Rangers had taken an early lead but Rogic levelled after only seven minutes for the Hoops with a cool finish from a rebound.
The Australian had initially had his right-foot shot blocked, before Gers keeper Allan McGregor saved Reo Hatate’s effort into Rogic’s path and he made no mistake.
Rogic had a chance to put Celtic ahead shortly after but was blocked by the desperate Rangers defence.
Cameron Carter-Vickers hit the winner in the 42nd minute with Rogic impressing, earning an 8/10 rating from the Daily Record who wrote: “Aussie was declared fit after an ankle issue and was superb for his hour.
“Paid boss back with a calm equaliser and caused problems finding pockets of space. Missed a second chance and third blocked. Excellent.”
Dean Bouzanis was in goal as Sutton United lost 4-2 in extra-time to Rotherham United in the EFL Trophy final on Sunday.
Riley McGree was back on the Middlesbrough bench as they won 4-0 at Peterborough United in the English Championship.
Kenny Dougall earned a 6/10 rating as Blackpool lost 4-1 to Nottingham Forest. Lancashire Live wrote: “Overran in the first half, looked more composed in the second but a couple of slack passes kept the pressure on.”
Massimo Luongo put in a full shift as Sheffield Wednesday won 2-1 over AFC Wimbledon in League One, earning a 6/10 rating from Yorkshire Live who wrote: “Coughed up possession easily on a few occasions. Saw a right foot shot drift agonisingly wide as the Owls piled on the pressure. Kept going.”
Cristian Volpato was back on the bench as AS Roma won 1-0 at Sampdoria in the Italian Serie A on Sunday.
Ajdin Hrustic was an unused sub as Eintracht Frankfurt drew 0-0 with bottom club Greuther Furth in the German Bundesliga.
