Socceroo striker Mohamed Toure made it five goals in seven games this season for Norwich City, with the opener in Saturday’s 4-3 loss to Middlesbrough in England’s Championship.
Toure expertly fired in the opener within 52 seconds, showing pace to swoop on a loose ball, taking two touches before rifling home.
Toure played 62 minutes before being replaced.
Meanwhile, Riley McGree started and played 63 minutes for Boro, receiving 7/10 for his display.
Teesside Live wrote: “While he didn’t have as direct an impact on the goals, his technical ability proved complimentary to the pace of the wide men to make for a really exciting Boro attack.”
Lucas Herrington played the final half hour in Hull City’s commendable 2-2 draw away to Chelsea in the Premier League.
Herrington earned a 7/10 rating from Hull Daily Mail, who wrote: “Needed to get tighter on Pedro for the equaliser. Looked comfortable other than that.”
In Portugal’s Primeira Liga, Nestory Irankunda was a 75th minute substitute for Sporting, helping them earn a penalty in their 1-1 draw at Famalicao.
Irankunda chested down into the box, before laying off for Fotis Ioannidis who was bundled over.
The Socceroo almost created a late winner, bursting down the right flank and crossing for Ioannidis who headed over the bar.
Alessandro Circati went unused on the bench in Benfica’s 3-1 home victory over Gil Vicente.
Cristian Volpato was absent with a quad injury sustained last weekend as Sassuolo impressed with a 3-2 win over Juventus in Serie A.
In France’s Ligue 1, Patrick Beach played the full game and impressed with four saves but couldn’t prevent Troyes going down 2-0 to Lille.
In Spain’s La Liga, Mat Ryan came up against Barcelona but couldn’t stop his side going down 4-2 to the Catalans. Ryan made two saves.
In Germany’s Bundesliga, Paul Okon-Engstler made a cameo in stoppage time, although he had enough time to earn a booking, in FC Koln’s 1-1 draw with Werder Bremen.
In the 2.Bundesliga, Connor Metcalfe played 91 minutes before being replaced by Sam Klein in St Pauli’s 1-0 win over Wolfsburg.
In the Dutch Eredivisie, Kasey Bos made his first start for Excelsior, playing 70 minutes at left-back in a 2-1 home loss to Utrecht.
