Socceroo Brad Smith came off the bench to provide two assists as Houston Dynamo won 4-1 against his former club DC United in the MLS on Sunday morning.
Smith was injected into the game with Houston up 2-1 in the 81st minute and four minutes later he found space down the left flank to provide a low ball for Carlos Sebastian Ferreira to rifle home a third goal to complete his hat-trick.
The Aussie left-back, who last played for the Socceroos in 2021, got in down the left wing again and played a first-time low cross for Gabe Segal to prod home for a 4-1 win.
The result means Dynamo are seventh in the Western Conference, extending their unbeaten run to five games.
Thomas Deng played a full game in Albirex Niigata’s dramatic 2-2 draw with Kawasaki Frontale in Japan’s J1 League on Saturday.
Deng’s side had hit the lead in the 98th minute, but Kawaski levelled in the 101st minute with Albirex defending deep and Deng caught out of place as Shin Yamada nipped in at the near post to volley home for the late equaliser.
Mitch Duke was absent for surprise leaders Machida Zelvia’s 0-0 with Avispa Fukuoka, while Mitch Langerak put in a full shift as Nagoya Grampus lost 1-0 at Tokyo Verdy.
In Korea’s K League 1, Aaron Calver played a full game as struggling Daejeon Citizen scored late to win 2-1 over Gwangju.
