It was a lean weekend for our Matildas abroad only days after Caitlin Foord, Mary Fowler and Alanna Kennedy all scored in the Women’s UEFA Champions League.
Kennedy blasted in a stunning long-range goal to open the scoring in Manchester City’s 3-2 win away to St Polten on Wednesday. Fowler netted in the 80th minute for what proved to be the winner.
A few days later, Fowler put in a full shift while Kennedy went unused as City came from behind to win 2-1 over Aston Villa in the English Women’s Super League.
Foord got on the scoresheet in Arsenal’s 4-1 home win over Valerenga on Wednesday and backed that up with a 58-minute performance in their 2-0 win at West Ham United under interim boss Renee Slegers.
Kyra Cooney-Cross was a 59th minute substitute for the Gunners, while Steph Catley started and played the full 90 minutes.
Katrina Gorry put in a full shift for the Hammers in midfield.
Hayley Raso missed Tottenham’s 5-2 loss to Chelsea due to a hamstring injury that has ruled her out of Australia’s upcoming games against Switzerland and Germany.
Clare Hunt put in a full shift for Spurs, while Charlotte Grant was unused.
