Cameron Burgess backed up his Premier League debut last weekend with another 90-minute shift in Ipswich Town’s entertaining 4-3 loss to Brentford.
Burgess was rated 5/10 by the East Anglian Daily Times who wrote: “A bit nervy at times in the second half but strong in the air and a threat from attacking set pieces.
“Paid the price against Brentford’s pacy attack at times.”
Massimo Luongo remained sidelined due to an ankle injury.
Joe Gauci was squeezed out of the Aston Villa’s matchday squad due to Robin Olsen’s return as they drew 1-1 with Bournemouth.
Riley McGree won a penalty for Middlesbrough while his slight touch earned him an assist in a 3-3 draw with Norwich City in the English Championship on Sunday.
McGree started and played 82 minutes, earning a 7/10 rating from Teesside Live who wrote: “Won Boro what should have been a decisive penalty kick and was generally positive throughout with his passing and movement. Helped out with his defensive work too.”
The spotkick which McGree won in the 69th minute was taken by Toby Conway but saved.
Earlier, McGree got a slight touch on Ben Doak’s cutback which was tapped home by Finn Azaz for a 3-1 lead right on half-time.
In the Championship on Saturday, Harry Souttar played a full game and earned a 6/10 rating in Sheffield United’s 2-0 home win over Stoke City.
Yorkshire Post wrote: “None of the Blades defenders were especially troubled, but he did his job.”
Alex Robertson put in a full shift in Cardiff City’s commendable 0-0 draw at West Bromwich Albion.
Kusini Yengi got more minutes as a 61st minute sub in Portsmouth’s 2-1 home loss to Sheffield Wednesday on Friday night. Sam Silvera also played, coming on in the 75th minute.
Portsmouth News rated Yengi 6/10 and wrote: “Added some presence up front and caused some problems. One shot and put himself about – now has to really bring it Pompey’s hour of need.”
Portsmouth News rated Silvera 5/10 and wrote: “Actually put in one decent block to slow late counter and a couple of bright moments, but not enough to help blunt attack.”
Gianni Stensness scored the winner for Viking with a glancing header in their 2-1 away win over Sarpsborg 08 in the Norwegian Eliteserien on Sunday.
Stensness darted forward inside the box unchallenged and rose to head home Zlatko Tripic’s 70th minute corner for the winning goal.
Stensness put in a full shift at centre-back, while Nick D’Agostino was a 64th minute substitute.
Viking are fourth in Norway’s top flight after 26 games.
In the German Bundesliga, Jackson Irvine played a full game in St Pauli’s0-0 home draw with VfL Wolfsburg.
Irvine almost scored in the 42nd minute with a left-foot shot from just inside the box that the ‘keeper clawed away.
In the Italian Serie B, Ajdin Hrustic went unused in Salernitana’s2-1 loss to Cremonese. Cristian Volpato played the first half in Sassuolo’s 2-0 win over Modena.
Kye Rowles was rated 7/10 as one of his side’s better performers as Hearts scored late to rescue a 1-1 draw in Sunday’s Edinburgh derby in the Scottish Premiership.
Rowles put in a full shift at left centre-back and Edinburgh Evening News wrote: “Strong and aggressive in everything he did. One of Hearts’ better performers.”
Cammy Devlin started and played 73 minutes for the Hearts and was rated 6/10. “Job was to break up play and orchestrate midfield, which he did reasonably well overall. Subbed soon after being booked.”
Martin Boyle put in a full shift for Hibs and had a header palmed away by Hearts keeper Craig Gordon. He was rated 6/10: “Won the free-kick that produced the breakthrough for Hibs. Diligently tracked back to help as Hearts fullbacks overlapped.”
Lewis Miller played a full game at right-back for Hibs and was rated 5/10: “Never a dull moment with the big Aussie. Great flick-on for Myko’s goal. But HAD to stop Wilson at equaliser.”
Nectarios Triantis put in a full shift in centre midfield and was rated 5/10: “Survived early booking and a few wayward moments. Good positioning without the ball made Hearts take the long way round – but should have cleared ball for equaliser.”
In the Premiership on Saturday, Ryan Strain made his return from injury after being out since mid-July, coming on in the 75th minute in Dundee United’s 1-0 loss at Aberdeen.
In the Dutch Eredivisie, Max Balard put in a full shift as NAC Breda won 4-1 over RKC Waalwijk.
In the Danish Superliga on Friday night, John Iredale opened the scoring in AaB’s 1-1 draw at Silkeborg. Iredale started and played 63 minutes.
Iredale swooped on a mix-up inside the box between the opposition goalkeeper and defender, to slide home the goal.
