There was positive injury news for Mat Ryan, Connor Metcalfe and Kusini Yengi this weekend but Joe Gauci suffered a hip injury playing for Barnsley on Saturday.
Socceroos goalkeeper Joe Gauci exited Barnsley’s 1-0 away win over Rotherham United in England’s league One with an apparent injury.
Gauci couldn’t complete the game, replaced in the 75th minute due to the hip complaint.
Reds boss Darrell Clarke told reporters: “It’s a hip injury, we will see how bad it is.”

In more positive injury news for our Aussie goalkeepers, Mat Ryan returned from his own hip complaint to put in a full shift for Lens in a 3-1 loss away to Nantes in France’s Ligue 1.
Ryan had missed Lens’ past two league games due to the injury, with his return marking his third appearance for his new French club.
The shot-stopper had a decent game, making a good save initially from a header before Louis Leroux fired home a rebound for Nantes’ opening goal.
In the second half, Ryan made an excellent double save, firstly from Mostafa Mohamed’s header, then a follow-up backheel.
Down to 10 men, Ryan saved well late after Matthis Abline jinked into the box.
In Germany’s Bundesliga, Connor Metcalfe returned to the St Pauli matchday squad for the first time since September due to a serious calf injury.
Metcalfe didn’t get any game time, while Jackson Irvine played the full 90 minutes in St Pauli’s 2-0 loss at FSV Mainz.
Irvine almost scored in the 79th minute, heading over from a Noah Weisshaupt cross with the score 1-0 at that point.
Nestory Irankunda claimed a somewhat fortuitous assist in Grasshoppers’ 2-2 draw at Lausanne in the Swiss Super League.
Irankunda raced forward on a break, as the ball deflected into his path on the edge of the box. The Socceroo’s touch seemed heavy but it looped over the defence for Adama Bojang to rifle home for 1-1 in the 55th minute.
The Australian starlet was replaced in the 76th minute.
Nectarios Triantis and Martin Boyle both provided assists and received 8/10 ratings as Hibernian shocked Celtic 2-1 in the Scottish Premiership.
Hibs went ahead in the second minute, with Triantis cutting through the middle and finding Josh Campbell unmarked to slide home.
On the stroke of half-time, Boyle dinked in a cross from the left flank which Campbell headed home for 2-0.
The Edinburgh Evening News rated Triantis 8/10 and wrote: “Sublime assist for the opening goal. Positional sense is coming on leaps and bounds. Great run of form continues.”
Boyle received an 8/10 rating for his 78-minute shift: “Full of running and guile, his cross for the second goal was an absolute peach of a delivery. Caused Celtic no end of problems.”
Lewis Miller and Jack Iredale both played full games, earning 7/10 and 7.5/10 rating respectively.
Hayden Matthews continues to impress with his new club Portsmouth, playing a full game and earning an 8/10 rating in their 2-1 home win over QPR in England’s Championship.
The Portsmouth News wrote: “With injuries stacking up again for centre-halves, Matthews also picked up a knock.
“Yet, with no more subs available, the kid showed his heart and guts and soldier on and serve his team proud.”
Kusini Yengi was back in the Portsmouth squad for the first time since November due to a knee injury but didn’t get on the pitch.
Massimo Luongo and Cameron Burgess were both left out of Ipswich Town’s side for their 4-1 home defeat to Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham in the English Premier League.
Rhys Youlley continues to get game-time with Westerlo, coming on as an 80th minute substitute in their 3-1 home loss to Charleroi in the Belgian Pro League. Jordan Bos was absent with a hamstring injury.
Aiden O’Neill played a full game for Standard Liege who stayed in touch with the top six with an upset 2-1 win away to Club Brugge on Sunday.
In Denmark’s Superliga, Paul Izzo kept a clean sheet while Mohamed Toure started and played 70 minutes in Randers’ 0-0 draw at Lyngby.
In Spain’s Segunda Division, Denis Genreau was an unused sub for new club Deportivo Coruna in a 0-0 draw with SD Huesca.
In Korea’s K League 2 on Sunday, John Iredale made his debut for Seoul E-Land, starting and playing 86 minutes in a 2-1 win over Chungnam Asan.
Iredale exited Danish club AaB after only six months, before joining Seoul in early January.
