Socceroos goalkeeper Mat Ryan’s future is unclear having parted ways with Dutch club AZ Alkmaar and with reports linking him with Spanish outfit Rayo Vallecano.
The 32-year-old shot-stopper spent 18 months with AZ, playing 63 times and helping the club qualify for next season’s Europa League.
The link with Vallecano, who finished 17th in La Liga last term, comes as Ryan this weekend concludes a holiday period in Ibiza in Spain, having also been back to Australia and Italy.
Ryan speaks Spanish, having previously had two stints in Spain with Real Sociedad (2021-2022) and Valencia (2015-2017).
The Australian keeper was also linked with newly promoted English Championship club Derby County a few weeks ago.
