Zac Sapsford scored his fourth goal for new club Dundee United in their thrilling 3-3 draw with Martin Boyle’s Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday.
Ex-Western Sydney forward Sapsford raced forward on to a through-ball, before re-positioning and side-footing home from Ivan Dolcek’s cutback to put his side 2-1 up late in the first half.
Sapsford has now scored two Scottish Premiership goals in consecutive games, along a further two goals and two assists in the UEFA Conference League earlier this campaign since his transfer.
Sapsford started and played 90 minutes before being replaced, with Ryan Strain (hamstring) out injured.
Boyle started and played 56 minutes, earning a 5.5/10 rating from Edinburgh Evening News: “Had a couple of early sights on goal. Replaced by Thibault Klidje 10 minutes into the second half.”
Jack Iredale started and played 88 minutes, earning a 5/10 rating from Edinburgh Evening News: “Was in the vicinity as United opened the scoring, which is never a good sign for a centre-half. Another who was stretched all over the park.”
Elsewhere in Scotland, Cammy Devlin impressed in a full game for Hearts as they won 2-0 at Rangers.
Edinburgh Evening News rated Devlin 7/10: “Typically combative and put opponents under pressure whenever they had the ball.”
In England’s Championship, Nestory Irankunda came off the bench as a 54th minute substitute but couldn’t prevent Watford going down 1-0 to Blackburn at home.
Irankunda spurned a presentable chance shortly after his introduction from a smart set-piece routine, while he also had a free-kick deflected behind by the wall.
Lewis Miller was a 69th minute sub for Blackburn, earning a 7/10 rating from Lancashire Telegraph: “Excellent defensively in one-vs-one duels after coming on.”
Cameron Burgess played a full game in Swansea City’s 2-2 draw with Hull City. Burgess was rated 7/10 by Wales Online: “Really good in the air throughout, and tried to break the lines with some pinged balls from the back. Decent performance.”
Massimo Luongo put in a full shift in Millwall’s 1-1 draw at Charlton, while Callum Elder played the full 90 in Derby County’s 1-0 win at West Brom.
On Sunday, Adrian Segecic started and played 76 minutes in a new role in Portsmouth’s 0-0 draw at rivals Southampton.
Portsmouth News rated Segecic 6/10: “Moved out to the right wing to accommodate Chaplin’s return. Wasted a couple of great opportunities to thread the ball through from dangerous positions and didn’t look his usual self, despite plenty of effort.”
Around Europe, Alessandro Circati played a full game in Parma’s 2-0 loss away to Cagliari in Italy’s Serie A.
Connor Metcalfe made a fleeting cameo off the bench in the 93rd minute in St Pauli’s 2-1 win over Augsburg in the German Bundesliga on Sunday.
Jackson Irvine was back in the St Pauli matchday squad after five months out with a foot injury but didn’t play.
Mat Ryan produced a good display in goal as Levante blew a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Real Betis in Spain’s La Liga on Sunday.
Ryan made smart saves to deny both Hector Bellerin and Antony during the contest.
After his midweek travel, Jordan Bos was unused for Feyenoord in a 1-0 victory over Heerenveen in the Dutch Eredivisie.
Max Balard put in a full shift for NAC Breda as they managed a 2-2 draw at Twente.
