Ellie Carpenter laid off the pass for Chelsea’s winner in a 1-0 home triumph over Clare Hunt’s Tottenham in the English Women’s Super League on Sunday.
Carpenter passed inside for Keira Walsh who rifled home an excellent shot for the decisive strike in the 61st minute.
The Matildas full-back herself had an effort from distance sail inches over after half-time.
Carpener, who was booked early on, was replaced on second-half stoppage time. Sam Kerr played as a 78th minute substitute.
For Spurs, Clare Hunt put in a full shift, while Charli Grant was an 88th minute sub.
Caitlin Foord was twice denied from close range in Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion.
Kyra Cooney-Cross got some more game-time, coming on as a 64th minute substitute in the narrow victory.
Foord started and played 89 minutes, while Steph Catley put in a full shift. For the Seagulls, Charlize Rule played the full 90.
Clare Wheeler put in a full shift as Everton lost 4-1 to Manchester United, while Emily van Egmond started and played 63 minutes in Leicester City’s 0-0 draw at Asto Villa.
Katrina Gorry played a full game as struggling West Ham United’s winless run continued with a 1-0 loss at London City Lionesses. Alanna Kennedy was a 66th minute sub for the Lionesses.
Hayley Raso was a 90th minute substitute for Eintracht Frankfurt in a 3-2 loss away to Freiburg in Germany’s Frauen-Bundesliga.
Alex Chidiac made her Como debut as a substitute in an impressive 1-0 away win over Juventus in the second round of the new Italian Serie A Women season.
Chidiac was a 68th minute substitute for the Lariani, before Nadine Nischler’s 84th minute winner with a volley from a corner.
The 26-year-old Matildas attacker was on the bnech for last weekend’s 2-1 loss to Lazio, having not been part of any matchday squads in Como’s three cup fixtures prior to that.

Elsewhere, Remy Siemsen started and played 70 minutes and Amy Sayer started and played 83 in Kristianstad’s 1-0 home loss to Norrkoping.
In USA’s NWSL, Cortnee Vine was a 79th minute substitute in North Carolina Courage’s 1-1 draw with Washington Spirit.
Mackenzie Arnold put in a full shift as Portland Thorns netted a late own goal to lose 1-0 at Orland Pride.
Arnold arguably should’ve asserted herself from an in-swinging corner with little danger, where defender Mallie McKenzie glanced in an own goal at the near post with the Matilda behind her.
Prior to that, Arnold had a good game with four important saves.
“It’s an error,” Thorns coach Rob Gale said. “It’s really frustrating for everyone because we’ve done well all season defending corners. The subs have to come and protect that near post.”
