Caitlin Foord produced a goal in a Player of the Match display as Arsenal thumped Liverpool 4-0 in the English Women’s Super League.
Foord opened the scoring in the 28th minute with a close-range effort from a corner.
One minute later, the Matildas forward played a key role in the second goal, turning over possession before her pressure saw Jaz Matthews score an own goal from Kim Little’s cutback.
Foord’s cross from the left flank led to Arsenal’s third goal, curled in by Mariona Caldentey.
Foord put in a full shift along with Steph Catley in defence, while Kyra Cooney-Cross went unused. Teagan Micah was Liverpool’s back-up keeper on the bench.
BBC voted Foord as Arsenal’s Player of the Match with a 8.56/10 rating.
Mary Fowler was a 58th minute substitute in Manchester City’s last-minute 2-1 loss to league leaders Chelsea. The result leaves fourth-placed City 15 points off the pace.
Meanwhile in Chelsea news, Blues manager Sonia Bompastor offered an update on Sam Kerr’s timeline to return from a long-term ACL injury.
She said: “We go week by week, and maybe after the international break we’ll have a better idea when she will come back with us.”
Katrina Gorry put in a full shift in West Ham United’s 2-0 home win over Tottenham. According to BBC and West Ham’s Twitter votes, Gorry was the Hammers’ Player of the Match.
