After scoring four goals in midweek, Caitlin Foord’s cross led to the winner for Arsenal as they edged closer to qualification for the 2024-25 Women’s UEFA Champions League.
The Gunners beat Norwegian runners-up Rosenborg 1-0 with Foord’s cross from the right flank causing chaos in the box.
Rosenborg keeper Rugile Rulyte flapped at Foord’s ball, enabling Frida Maanum to swoop on the rebound and force it home for the game’s only goal.
Foord, along with fellow Matilda Kyra Cooney-Cross, started and played 82 minutes.
In midweek, Foord had scored four goals in Arsenal’s 6-0 victory over Scottish runners-up Rangers.
Elsewhere in Champions League qualifying, Daniela Galic was a 68th minute substitute for FC Twente in a 7-0 triumph over Cardiff City.
Galic, who left Melbourne City for the Netherlands in the off-season, had made her debut for Twente in last weekend’s Dutch Super Cup 6-1 win over Ajax.
Another newcomer to Europe, goalkeeper Jada Whyman was in between the sticks as AIK were beaten 4-0 by BK Hacken in Sweden’s Damallsvenskan.
Remy Siemsen and Clare Polkinghorne both played full games as Kristianstad won 2-1 away to Hammarby in the Damallsvenskan on Sunday.
Another recent mover, Mackenzie Arnold, played a full game in USA’s NWSL as Portland Thorns were beaten 2-1 by Washington Spirit.
In recent transfer news, Tottenham announced last weekend that they had secured the signature of Matildas winger Hayley Raso on a two-year deal following her exit from Real Madrid.
Raso, who previously played for Everton and Manchester City in England, said: “The WSL is such a competitive league and you saw that with all the games and teams so, for me to come back here was an easy choice, I wanted to be back in this league and at this level – and Spurs was the team I chose to do that with.
“I had a chat with Robert [Vilahamn] and he gave such a good impression and good vibes of the team and then I spoke to ‘Charli’ [Grant] who has been here a while about what she thought of the Club and how things have gone. For me, after that chat, it was a pretty easy decision to want to come here.”
