Katrina Gorry scored a double before exiting with an apparent shoulder injury in West Ham United’s 3-2 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion in the Women’s Super League on Saturday.
Gorry turned the game on her turn with the Hammers trailing 2-0, before scoring two goals in five minutes to make it 2-2.
The Matilda had seen a shot crash off the bar, before arrowing in a 64th minute strike from distance.
In the 69th minute Gorry struck again, dispossessing a defender before racing forward and rifling a shot in at the near post.
But only five minutes later she had to be substituted, appearing to favour her shoulder.
Hammers manager Rehanne Skinner said her injury would need a “proper medical assessment” and wouldn’t be drawn on it.
She did praise Gorry, stating: “She does a lot of work in training to refine some of the timing of some of her striking, and I think that showed today.
“When she’s got the opportunity, she comes to life and she’s been superb in all of the work that she’s done for the Club so far this season, and long may it continue.”
Alanna Kennedy was shrugged off the ball from a through-pass by Mayra Ramirez leading to the opening goal in Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Manchester City.
Kennedy put in a full shift for title hopefuls City but couldn’t thwart Ramirez from breaking the deadlock in the 75th minute.
Mary Fowler started and played 80 minutes for City, struggling to make much impact.
Caitlin Foord, Steph Catley and Kyra Cooney-Cross all played their part in Arsenal’s 3-0 derby win over Tottenham.
Catley played a full game, while Foord started and played 64 minutes, flashing wide a chance on the hour. Cooney-Cross was a half-time sub.
For Spurs, Clare Hunt and Hayley Raso both started, replaced in the 68th and 85th minutes respectively, while Charlotte Grant went unused.
On Sunday, Teagan Micah returned to the Liverpool starting line-up but they went down 1-0 to rivals Everton. Clare Wheeler put in a full shift for the Toffees.
Courtney Nevin started and played 86 minutes in Leicester City’s 2-0 home loss to Manchester United.
Ellie Carpenter started and played 68 minutes, providing one of the assists in Olympique Lyon’s 11-0 win over Saint-Etienne in the French Premiere Ligue.
Sarah Hunter was an unused sub for Paris FC in a 4-1 win at Strasbourg.
Winonah Heatley put in a full shift in Nordsjaelland’s 3-0 loss to Brondby in the Danish Kvindeliga.
