Jordan Bos scored his second goal of the Dutch Eredivisie season with a sublime left-foot strike in Feyenoord’s 3-3 draw at AZ on Sunday.
Bos equalized for 2-2 in the 56th minute when he received a short pass from Luciano Valente just outside the box.
The Socceroo took on touch on his right foot to tee himself up, before unleashing a left-foot shot which went into the far bottom corner with the aid of a slight deflection.
Bos then played a key part in Feyenoord taking a 3-2 lead when he bombed down the left flank, with his cutback setting up a run of passes before Anis Hadj Moussa squeezed a shot home.
Earlier Bos was caught out of position when AZ’s second goal, with Dense Kasius curling in after getting in behind.
Elsewhere in the Eredivisie, Max Balard and Ajdin Hrustic both played full games for their respective sides as NAC Breda edged Heracles 2-1 on Saturday.
Lewis Miller earned an 8/10 rating in his Blackburn league starting debut which ended with their English Championship game against Ipswich Town abandoned with Rovers 1-0 up.
Miller started and played 80 minutes before the referee deemed the pitch waterlogged and not fit to continue playing, abandoning the game.
Lancashire Telegraph rated Miller 8/10 and wrote: “Looked comfortable in a back four. Nearly let McAteer in at one stage but recovered with a well-timed challenge.”
Adrian Segecic was rated only 4/10 as Portsmouth were downed 2-0 at home by Sheffield Wednesday.
Segecic started and played 67 minutes. Portsmouth News wrote: “At times offered the biggest threat for the Blues, but struggled to capitalise on some promising moments.
“Never afraid to shoot from outside the box, which is a useful tool, but on this occasion such attempts were comfortably blocked.”
Hayden Matthews was a 52nd minute substitute and rated 6/10: “First league outing of the season and slotted into the centre of defence with the minimum of fuss. A couple of excellent blocks”
Sam Silvera received a 6/10 rating after entering in the 42nd minute following an injury to a teammate, helping in-form Middlesbrough topple West Bromwich Albion 2-1.
Teesside Live wrote: “Given the nature of the game, he was forced to do a lot more defending that he’d usually like. He played his part in a win.”
Callum Elder started and played the first half in Derby County’s 1-0 home loss to Preston.
Martin Boyle had an early goal disallowed before Hibernian went down 2-0 to Rangers in the Scottish League Cup quarter-finals.
Boyle had raced through in the first half to put the ball into the back of the net, only for the VAR to intervene, citing a handball in the build-up.
The Socceroo was replaced after 82 minutes as Hibs exited.
Apostolos Stamatelopoulos played his part as Motherwell progressed to the final four with a 1-0 win at Aberdeen. Oscar Priestman played 15 minutes off the bench for ‘Well.
In the Spanish La Liga, Mat Ryan put in a full shift and had little to do in Levante’s 4-0 win away to Girona who were reduced to nine players.
In the German Bundesliga, Connor Metcalfe was a 74th minute substitute in St Pauli’s 2-0 loss at VfB Stuttgart. Jackson Irvine was absent.
In the Austrian Bundesliga, Noah Botic was a 66th minute substitute in Austria Vienna’s 3-2 victory over Ried.
On Sunday, Marco Tilio was a 65th minute substitute for Rapid Vienna in a 1-1 draw away to Graz AK for whom Jacob Italiano put in a full shift.
In the Portuguese Primeira Liga, Anthony Carter was a 58th minute substitute in Santa Clara’s 2-1 triumph over Alverca.
